an unsubsidized bold cost just as much as the iphone 3gs. blackberry’s main strength is how well it integrates with existing corporate infrastructure.

One thing I don’t get is why Motorola, which acquired Good Technology a while ago, can’t deliver similar product like BES using Good technology they already have on the android platform. and if they are, what’s taking them so long? But when this does happen, it will put a significantly dent into Blackberry.

Think of it this way. Voice and Data charges are pretty much a constant. (iPHONE users getting screwed not withstanding) The battle will be over QUALITY of Apps available as well as QUANTITY of those quality Apps. (No one really needs a shotgun app or a lighter image app)

It will be a battle of the App that decides the market more than anything. Keyboards real or virtual are a small thing in the grand scheme. I predict that we will see two main user groups for smart phones. Business / sales force who need mobile office access and Students / txt m3ssa6e fi3nd5 who want to talk, text and surf while on the go.

I see smartphone demand increasing but limited in its growth due to high data charges. The new HTC Android phones have some very cool features with Google Apps that will provide an all-in-one service for the consumer and SME markets. What I like is the intregration in to the web with these apps. Will this affect BB and Iphone….only time and data rate charges will tell.
BB rules the corporate world and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. BB is lagging on the consumer markets because of its lack of web integration on its OS. Iphone’s are cool but the cost is very prohibitive.

You’re approaching this all wrong. iPhones, Blackberries, and Android phones have very specific target audiences. Similar to how people criticize RIM for not developing a “consumer” grade product, Android phones are not intended to be business/enterprise worthy. If you want to speculate which manufacturer will dominate a specific market share, that is more realistic but the answers will be obvious since each device caters to their strongest market.
