Viigo releases Viigo News: a free light mobile RSS reader

Viigo is becoming known as an app that can do almost anything. They’ve recently gone back to their roots and released a light, RSS-only client called Viigo News.

You can’t run the Full Viigo app alongside the lighter Viigo News app so keep that in mind. Grab a copy of Viigo News or go for the high octane original Viigo that so many users rely on.

Free BlackBerry file explorer FileScout Updated to 1.3

Donationware file browsing application FileScout (formerly BBFileScout) has been updated to version 1.3 with new features and fixes. FileScout allows to view, edit, and email files on your BlackBerry.

Here’s some of what’s new in version 1.3:

-Open HTML files using the BlackBerry Browser
-WordWrap feature added to text editor/viewer
-Advancements in FileScout’s search functions
-Selectable font size in text editor/viewer
-Read-only mode for the text editor/viewer (so as not to accidentally alter important system files)
-Show clipboard content feature
-eMail files, multiple files, whole directories

Wired.com discusses the reasons behind Verizon’s lack of what they consider to be high-end smartphones. The higher-end BlackBerrys they have right now are the BlackBerry Storm, and the WiFi-free BlackBerry Tour.

“They lack the star products that their competitors have,” says Avi Greengart, research director, consumer devices for Current Analysis. “They recognize they don’t have compelling devices right now but feel they can make up for it with network quality.”

Gmail 2-way syncing coming soon to BlackBerry

Using some of the finer functions and features of Gmail are about to improve. The soon to be implemented Two-way syncing will mean you can edit labels, and more from your desktop, with the changes reflected on your BlackBerry. At present this sort of syncing only works from device to desktop. This two-way feature will mean better mail management with fewer steps no matter where you’re making changes from.
