The information on the LTE switchover was correct relative to the marketing strategy concerning the devolvement of Verizon and Vodaphone into one compatible business plan. You are correct in the technical sense, as there was such a great expenditure of resources with CDMA that there will be a residual market for that technology as currently deployed for some time. Furthermore, there seems to be some indication of success in a standard compliant data package handover scheme from LTE to CDMA. If this is true, it would introduce a system able to take advantage of the network qualities of CDMA with the speed of LTE. This can be referenced at http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/25/lg-and-nortel-complete-first-legit-lte-cdma-handover-verizon-sw/. The Verizon technical team is first rate; I hope that they might ascend to a level where their corporate input rises above that of marketing in choosing and releasing technology.

As you stated ”I am fed up with Verizon (but not their tech services) and will drop the service when they drop CDMA, which will be within a year or so to cash in on the GSM (LTE 4G) customer base.”

Even the link that you posted contradicts your statement. Go back a reread it. It clearly states that LTE will work alongside the CDMA network. The higher ups at Verizon have been saying from day 1 that the CDMA voice network will not be going anywhere anytime soon.

I will also take your mention of their tech services as a personal compliment since I am part of that great team!

Where do you get off calling anyone an idiot? Obviously it is you who have not been following the pronouncements of Verizon with regard to the LTE system switch. Now, as for my statement concerning the release date for the Verizon Storm 2 of November 24th, I stated 'supposed to be' as relayed to me by someone in the Storm Tech Team. Whether or not the date is true or will be changed again is up to Verizon of course, but it seems logical to me that they would rather release the device on a Saturday (24th) rather than on a Wednesday (28th) for the sake of numbers.

@ R. Parks - Where do you get your info? Once again, an idiot that believes everything they read/hear on these gossip rag web sites. The date has been set by VZW for the 28th, BUT that has yet to be confirmed by RIM or Verizon. As far as Vodaphone goes I don't think they have announced a date either.

You may want to check up on your CDMA to LTE change over as well. Seems like you are a little misinformed there too..

I can't believe you are backing Verizon. They have been pitiful with their support (hampered by Verizon administration) and launch programs for the Storm 1, and now the Storm 2. It seems evident to me that Verizon has delayed launching the new Storm so they can take advantage of the holiday season, and nothing more. There is no reason why Vodaphone is releasing the Storm 2 ahead of Verizon. This technical approval baloney is so obvious as to be infuriating. I am fed up with Verizon (but not their tech services) and will drop the service when they drop CDMA, which will be within a year or so to cash in on the GSM (LTE 4G) customer base.
