here's a work around which requires a pc. this is of course in theory because i have not encountered this problem yet. god knows the hell i did that caused it to not appear. anyways.

here's what i think could be done

since the case is that when u use a theme's original wallpaper u get the white border thing. that should be associated with the theme settings [img=etcetc or watever coding they are using]

so why not plug it into you pc which you obviously have considering that you are posting here and transfer a copy of the picture into your pc. use programmes like adobe or something. i remember a programme similar to adobe but its free [since adobe will revert any image to psd format and after you have opened it save the image again with a different name and set the format to whichever u prefer]. I'm pretty sure this will work because the problem only shows itself when the original wallpaper of a theme is active. [you could use microsoft paint but quality will be lower ie: pixelated, blurred which ever comes first which could be fixed by saving it as a high resolution image and then uploading it into ur phone since the phone has a smaller display compared to your monitor the pixelation and blur may not be visible or noticeable]

anyhow if anyone would be so kind to try this out please send a feedback to shawn.h.cheah@gmail.com would like to fill this into the troubleshooting guide i'm working on.

[...] We had some great responses from our post regarding the BlackBerry OS 5 themes bug. There are a couple of fixes that were provided in the comments that are worth reposting. From BlackBerry Cool reader Jon: This issue can be resolved, as posted on crackberry.com forums by wiseguy77: “step1: obviously load the theme step2: do not use the theme wall paper change it! this is where the issue lies. step3: after changing your wall paper to something other than the theme default go to options>themes>open the little blue box to the right of the active theme. now select the layou option and change the row settings from 2 rows to one row then back to two with out leaving the theme screen, and wala your theme will not longer show the white borders when in landscape mode only bummer is that you have to repeat step 3 each time you change themes or reboot you phone as long as the wallpaper is not the theme default i guarantee you this will work.” [...]

Thanks so much Jon! This totally worked for me. Yay!!! I have my themes back!!!

From Jon:
“step1: obviously load the theme step2: do not use the theme wall paper change it! this is where the issue lies. step3: after changing your wall paper to something other than the theme default go to options>themes>open the little blue box to the right of the active theme. now select the layou option and change the row settings from 2 rows to one row then back to two with out leaving the theme screen, and wala your theme will not longer show the white borders when in landscape mode only bummer is that you have to repeat step 3 each time you change themes or reboot you phone as long as the wallpaper is not the theme default i guarantee you this will work.”

temporary fix:

1. In landscape mode, hit blackberry button, select options and change wallpaper from the theme default
2. Back in options, select layout, change to Today mode, save and close out
3. Go back to options, select layout and change back to 2 rows

Theme should now work properly until next reboot"

thank you good sir this works perfect :)
