What do you think of your new Storm2?

This is an open thread for anyone who owns a BlackBerry Storm2 to comment what they think of the device so far. Are you happy with the device? Do you have any gripes with the Storm2?

Here are a few pros and cons to get the discussion started:

Pros

  • It has WiFi! My wallet really appreciates it.
  • Multitouch has big implications for not only the device, but for upcoming software.
  • The typing experience is definitely improved. While it’s hard to say whether it’s faster, it definitely feels better.

Cons

  • After the OS 5 update to the Storm 1, the typing experience on the Storm2 isn’t a huge leap forward.
  • The screen has been sticking for me every now and then.
  • The vibrate feature could be a little less intense.

  • Noel

I like it a lot. How ever I do have a few complaints about it so far. The “Click sound” is very loud even more then the first storm. The vibration is too hard & very loud also. The screen get stuck or won’t click at times, including escape & menu buttons. All things that could well be fixed by software updates, but whether or not they will I don’t know.

One of the things I Hate about my 8130 is the “vibrate”. When in my pocket, I don’t even notice it. I wish Sprint offerd the Storm

Can not imagine too much vibrate, a really big con on the S1 & was a huge lack thereof ..

Not sure how WiFi helps your wallet since you can’t buy a Storm2 from Verizon without a data plan, right? or if you pay the full price no plan required?

Interesting comments about the vibrate. My wife upgrade today from 8130 to 9550 and has complained all day the vibrate is far weaker. We’re gonna keep her old Pearl as a vibrator…!!! ;)

I think the typing is faster than the storm 1, even with the os5 update. THe vibrate is a little intense, but I still never feel it when I’m working and the phone is in my pocket. I’m hoping that the apps which were available for the original storm get updated for os5 soon. There are quite a few that are no longer compatible with either storm if upgraded to os5. Here’s to hoping the developers conference next week gets us some new features.

@DavidB – Just in terms of roaming. I travel a lot so it helps.

In terms of the vibrating, it’s just a little much. Not a big deal or anything, but I can hear the thing vibrate from across the room.

Well I’m 15 and still in school and the vibrate is really loud. I set it to short but you can hear it all the way across the room. Its very fast with internet and I love the way you can text. The end and escape buttons don’t always work which makes me mad. It holds a charge very well. I can also text way faster. When I had the storm 1 it didn’t have the app store yet but now that I have it I love it. But most apps don’t work like the weather ones. But over all the storm 2 is really cool

I find it ironic that folks are actually complaining about a vibrate setting that’s TOO STRONG. Everyone else seems to whine about weak vibration, and now they’re saying this is too much. What is this, Goldilocks and the 3 Bears?

My two biggest issues are the screen getting stuck.. & how loud the typing sounds

The amazing thing is only 9 comments which means very few people bought this phone since the iPhone is taking share and why get the storm if you can get a droid instead on Verizon.

I can connect to wifi alright.. But it has (-) right next to it.. The manual says I’m not in coverage area? What am I missing here. I dont think my browser is using the wifi connection.

    Anybody has same problem?

Just read the post where it says only 9 people have responded …. that really does not equate to much.
As far as liking it …. really don’t know yet as I’m trying to figure it out. I’m a senior that just likes techy things and I always wanted a BB. The only thing holding me back was I didn’t like the little buttons. I do think that this key board is easy for me to use.At least I sure hope so. If I was working again I would find a young guy/gal in the office and take them to lunch for a week just to get as much info about how/why to use this. I think it will be a fun rids

I got the S2 for my wife and I will get mine in a few weeks. So far I really like it and she seems to as well. It does everything she wants, web browsing is quick (Opera) after coming from the clunky 8830 and a few days learning the typing in landscape mode, its great and fun.

Very impressed with the S2 thus far. Huge improvement over the S1 in terms of overall feel and usability. I was not a fan of the SurePress on the S1 but its starting to grow on me (finally) with the S2. The Verizon store that I purchased from yesterday sold out by mid-afternoon, so there is obviously still a large, passionate BlackBerry following that is updating to this latest device.

I am of the opinion that it is highly improved even after the release of 5.0 for the S1. I had issues the first hour with freezing but haven’t noticed it since. I like that the vibrate is stronger because I could never feel it before and the screen clicking becomes less noticeable the more you use it. I have yet to find an app that doesn’t work. Do you have compatibility turned on? I am also assuming everyone is running .320?

Upgraded from the 8830. Got a netbook for the wife and S2 for myself with the BOGO deal for $91. Getting used to the touch typing.

Quite happy so far. Solid form factor. Noted some of the niggles above but nothing an OS 5.1 wouldn’t fix.

Bought the first 2 sold in Cincinnati. Moved up from an 8320. Touch screen takes some time to master but I’m getting there. Larger screen definitely a plus as is the touch screen navigation in lieu of the roller ball. Overall,a nice phone.

The youtube video quality is worst than on the first storm, loading takes forever & constantly says theres an error and the video doesn’t play.

I love my blackberry pearl but I have to say that I see Iphones all around me. The iphone is such a nice looking phone. I am planning on buying a storm 2 at full retail bc I’m not eligible for the upgrade. I’m waiting to read more comments before I make the leap.

@Gabriel – Falsely claiming that device data is encrypted in an Enterprise Environment is as big as BUYER BEWARE!!! as you can get from an iPhone. You’re obviously an Apple Employee/Fan Boy. I don’t know which planet you’ve been living on but the BlackBerry name is synonymous with Reliability,Feature Rich,Multi Tasking, Endurance and Stability, all of which any competitor has yet to prove itself as a real contender to the BlackBerry product.

I don’t understand how anyone can say that the vibrate is too strong. I rely entirely on the vibrate feature, being in the professional environment. I tried throttling the setting between High, Medium, and Low with no joy. I am extremely disappointed in the vibrate on my S2. I miss every call.
    I am VERY DISAPPIONTED…
