The official launch of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 took place in Germany and Mike Lazaridis was there to talk about it. He called it a “remarkable feat of engineering.”
The above video gives you a quick look at the device, and then cuts over to Mike Lazaridis, speaking at what appears to be a small press event. Nothing spectacular in the video, but the 9700 looks like a really professional device.
Remote Print consists of 2 applications, one for your BlackBerry and another that sits on the PC. When both are installed, Remote Print allows you to wirelessly print any file from your BlackBerry including emails, photos, PDF, Excel, Word, address contacts, memos and more. With Remote Print, you can also send files from your BlackBerry to your PC.
Features of this software include:
Native intergration into BlackBerry email, address book and memo applications for quick printing direct from the menu bar.
Print Office (Excel, Word etc) and PDF files! (requires Office/Adobe reader to be installed on PC).
Print photos and image files (png, gif, bmp, jped, jpg etc) direct from your BlackBerry.
Use the send option to send any file directly to your PC without printing: great for quick BlackBerry->PC file transfers.
Inbuilt file explorer to select files or whole folders for printing/sending.
For BES users, print to your office printer from anywhere – even without WiFi.
RIM have officially announced the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and it’s one of the best devices in their product line. Of course, everyone is excited about the BlackBerry Storm 2, but they serve very different markets. The Storm 2 is a device for the consumer market, while the 9700 would be better suited for enterprise.
The official press releases for the Bold 9700 from Rogers and AT&T, included pricing for the device and they differ slightly in their promotional offerings. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 will be available from Rogers in the coming weeks for $299.99 on a three-year voice and data activation with a minimum monthly service plan of $45.
The BlackBerry Bold 9700 will also be available from AT&T but for only $199.99 (pay $299.99 and receive $100 mail-in-rebate).
T-Mobile and Bell have not announced what they will be selling the device for but it’s likely to be around the same price as AT&T and Rogers. The question is whether they will force users to mail in their rebate, or offer an entirely different promotion.
With the BlackBerry Bold 9700 now official, we can take a look at the known specs for the device. Overall, things are to be expected. The device takes everything that the 9000 had, and improves on it. The easiest way to understand the Bold 9700, is to see how it compares to its predecessor.
Now this is how you handle a launch. Carriers across North America have coordinated and announced the BlackBerry Bold 9700. This is going to be the best BlackBerry of 2009, hands down. The Bold 9700 is the updated version of the Bold 9000 and it is everything you loved about the first Bold, but packaged in a tighter form factor.
The carriers that have announced the device include Rogers, Bell, AT&T and T-Mobile.
We’re getting tips that RIM is launching themes on BlackBerry App World November 9th. It’s still very early to tell whether RIM will hold to this date, but we do know that they’re aiming for it. A number of events could lead to a delay but all we can do is wait and see.
If you don’t believe us: good. It’s for the best that we aren’t labeled as a leak site so don’t pass this on to any other blogs.
