RoadRunner_GPS

RoadRunnerGPS is a feature rich app for fitness enthusiasts. The app uses GPS features to provide feedback for joggers and walkers on their time, speed, distance, pace and calories.

Once you have finished your run, you can upload the data to Kanavon’s servers where you can review the data and get a variety of metrics and statistics about your workout.

We’re giving away 25 copies of this app, so just comment and let us know what other fitness apps you have tried for BlackBerry.

There is more information about RoadRunnerGPS on their site, as well as in the App World webstore.

Update: Thanks everyone for participating! The 25 winners have been selected and will receive an email shortly.

Love this app. Online review of run data and mapping with specific points makes this an excellent post run review tool. With the recent addition of the pause feature it addresses my needs.
  • Felipe L.
I'm a runner and a Blackberry adict so this is the perfect app for me!
    Thanks.
  • E
Looks like a nice app. Have tried GPSed which is great for tracking, but is not 'exorcise specific' so no calorie count or anything.
  • jeff
don't use any fitness apps, but would like to give this a try.
  • Bob
    This is a nice application.
  • Keith
currently use BBtracker. Certainly not a full analysis tool but gives distances, altitude and could be uploaded to Google Earth for visual. Very cool and very free!
  • David West
I've used GymTechnik some. It's not a Blackberry application, but I do sneak my wife's Garmin watch out occasionally.
  • rodalfa
I use gpslogger and works pretty well, but this also seems to be a good option to try!
  • Pierre-Alain R.
I would just love to have this awsome app when I go running!

I would make some ad for it here ;)
  • Sean Ng
Wah.. great app. it can push me to keep run...Road Runner..bibi.. pick me :D
  • Ridan Andreev
I'm using sportypal, haven't had any problem yet, i really like the user interface and the simplicity. One button for start, one to finish, one to show you the map, one to show you the stats, it can't be more simple than this.
  • I tend to use GPSLogger for my runs and walks as it gives me a lot of flexibility although not particurlalry tailored to running. Have also tried allsport which seems fairly reasonable.
  • java
I use GPSed. Works for my purposes, but the interface is a little clunky. Would be good to try this.
  • I haven't used any fitness software yet...was always concerned about getting the phone sweaty.
  • kevin
    Entry for giveaway
  • Ben
I have used the Allsports GPS Platinum program for their free 3 month trial, really liked it but haven't been able to justify the monthly subscription fee. This app looks interesting to try.
  • Curtis
Cool app. I have Nike+ with IPod for my running. GPS tracking would be great to map runs
  • SaloMog
I've tried a few of them. There was this really lame one that was just a pedometer, and it wouldn't accurately track my speed. It would only do it if I was going over 5.5 MPH. Which is hard to maintain. I hope that this one would be better than any of the other ones I've tried.
  • I've used the Nike+ on my iPod Touch but I find that it loses my runs and freezes my iPod. I refuse to buy and iPhone because it would require me to cancel Verizon and switch to AT&T. Besides, I love my Storm. Because of my troubles I haven't been tracking and I haven't been motivated to run. I need a kick start. I'd love to find a good app for my storm. Please email all commentors whether we receive the free App or not because if I don't get the free app I'm pretty sure I will buy one.
  • Luis
I have used gym technik a couple times, but now since i recently got a bb with gps, i would love to use the app and do my outdoor runs more accurately
  • Ed
I haven't tried any GPS enabled fitness software yet, but I have used my hand-held GPS to track my mileage... It sure would be nice to have only one thing to carry!
  • Laura
I would absolutely love this application; I have been dying to see an application of this nature and have been looking into getting back to my running after my injury. Please pick me!
  • Ian
the garman forerunner wrist works great for me, always willing to try another :-)

    Ian
  • I have used gymtecnik, asendo fitness, sports plus and total fitness. Seems like this would be a good one to use as I cycle and run.
  • Hi Everyone:

I just wanted to let you know that there is a 14-day free trial of RoadRunnerGPS. I encourage you to give it a try at http://www.roadrunnergps.com. Just click on "Try It" and follow the instructions.
  • Dan
i've been using the trial for some time now, it's actually easy to use, runs in the background so i can do other things with my phone while i run (music, yes even the occasional Inbox glance...), but there are a few things it still needs to do:
    * you can't see your actual historical runs on your device. this means no showing off to friends unless you use a web browser, and the standard-issue Blackberry Browser doesn't even render the site well. (Opera Mini anyone?)
    * you can't even email a run report before quitting the app as a workaround to the above.
    * i've noticed that in my area elevation data seems off, but distance seems about right.

the distance-based chimes during a run really are awesome though.
  • Tim
I also have yet to find a good one.
  • Mark
    Looks interesting.
  • Rejean
Hi, I've tried a fiew apps, for example Insta Mapper...Hope this one is better.

    Thanks!

I've tried other apps, but would love to have this one.

  • Leo
I have not used any BlackBerry apps. My Garmin Forerunner GPS wrist watch keeps track of these things but the software/reporting tool is pretty weak. I would like to see if this app is compatible with Forerunner data files.
  • troy Mansell
I have been looking for a proudicy like this.
  • Steve H
I was waiting for this trpe of program for my Storm. Tried Trimble Outdoors but their running module is not compatible with Verizon Storm. I would love a copy of this program to help me with my desire to stay physically fit.
  • WinoOutWest
I've been using bbTracker. Not as slick as this an but it is FREE and allows you to export your tracks to Excel or Google maps/Google Earth. I use it for Mountain biking, hiking and running. It doesn't require a data plan either which is nice for some of us. Where it lacks compared to this is some of the fitness related functions as well as the realtime stats. I am going to try RoadRunnerGPS.
  • John
For running and cycling I've used sportypal, without much success, and use GPSlogger right now... would love to give this a try, looks pretty good!

I would love to give this one a shot though, it looks promising!
  • Jim
I've tried GPSed and I didn't like the GUI of the app. It was a little cumbersome to set up and I lost interest in it. I'm hoping I win a copy of Roadrunner GPS!
  • I've never used a fitness app, but I work out every day. I am actually running a 5K this Sunday. I'd love to try this app out!!
  • Bobby
Hey - haven't tried any, but this one looks great. Sometimes my GPS on my Bold 9000 isn't great in Eastern Canada where I'm located, so not sure if this app will still work all that well - but would love to try it out.
  • D

  • Jaime
Hi, I tried several free but they're too slow. I hope this is a winner!
  • Danny
I carry both an iPhone and a BB. I have been Mountain Biking for many years and have a Garmin Edge 705 I use to track all my bike rides. I just recently started running and have been using a number of different apps that I just don't think have worked out the way my Garmin does. I have been a long time user of Nike+ for the little bit of walking I do. I have recently (since running) been using MapMyRun which I just don't feel is giving me enough info. I am trying to resist buying a Garmin Foremann 310XT.
  • Chris G
I've used SMap from Sanoodi. It seems a bit basic, and hasn't been updated for a while. I've had trouble with it causing my BB to freeze in the middle of a run - not very helpful!

On the plus side, I like the information on the website when you've uploaded the run.
  • shelly
That would be a great app to have
