Installed OS 5.0.0.411 on my BlackBerry Bold and it runs great. No problems so far. Memory got a little boost (which is always welcome). There is always improvement on web browsing too with every new OS release.

    So far so good.

I found battery life was great but there are some lacking features. Bluetooth streaming is choppy every 30 seconds. If you use your Bold as an alarm clock you can reset your alarm after it goes off (you have to unlock then reset alarm time) old OS when alarm goes off you could reset alarm time. The back light seems to trip on when the Bold switches back to home screen and locks.

It seems to me that battery life is extended by about 4 hours on my device. But over all this is getting closer to the final product. I think one thing RIM still needs to add is the ability to copy sound profiles…. When I get my Normal sound profile the way I want but I just want to drop the volume on all of them and save as quiet, just hurts my brain cause I know I have to do it all manual. Most people do this 3 times one for quiet one for normal one for loud.

A little late, but those of you who may be having trouble distributing these, I have some torrents for the 9000 and 8900. You can get them here: http://coltoncat.com/2009/12/os-5-0-0-411-for-bold-9000-curve-8900-and-curve-8900/

411 on the 9000 makes major improvements to the boot speed of the device, cover 348 which I was running before. Wondering if anyone has tried this on AT&T yet?

Installed it and it is great. the only minus now is that all my sms come under one contact. Anyone else experience this? could really be annoying..

I thought it was just me with the SMS issue. Mine are all under one contact as well. For a moment I thought that’s what people were talking about with the “threaded” view, but quickly realized I must be smokin’ something. Any fix you come across olta?

That issue can be solved with a simple battery pull. I experienced the same and as soon as I did this, it was solved. I had a thread for every contact for the SMS view.

I have some wifi instabilities. More specifically, wifi can suddenly cease to work, and nothing execpt a full power off restores network connectivity. I have seen this most often (only?) on networks with WPA-PSK authentication. Maybe I will change one of them to WEP just for fun?

I have upgraded, everything seems to work well except that I am getting many times GPRS instead of EDGE and all messages are under one contact even when I pull the battery, so I am planning to downgrade to 4.6 for the time being.

Everything works fine for me. The sms problem has never happened to me with this OS. Battery life is sickkkkk, and sick fast boot speed. My wifi works 24/7 . Everything is perfect, except there aren’t any themes out there. I really need a. Smooth looking theme like the leopard apple today theme that displays calendar dates on my screen :(
