If we have all of these wireless infrastructure limitations, why was verizon able to limit access to wifi on their devices? Wifi would have taken a lot of strain off of the network infrastructure.

I’ve heard Lazaridis speak before and he’s pretty modest about limitations of a BlackBerry. It’s usually in the frame of physics limitations and Moore’s Law. As far as I can tell from the interview, he’s mostly talking about limitations of the infrastructure. This isn’t something RIM controls and all they can do is make the device as network friendly as possible. I’d say it was pretty optimistic.

What a god damn cop out. This guy cannot for the life of him admit that his product is many years behind, technically speaking, in many forms of mobile technology. He talks about “limitations” and not possibilities. Can’t wait to switch to the Droid. Peace Blackberry, see ya when you have phones that mirror, I don’t know, 2007-era devices.
