Mplayit launches BlackBerry app store on Facebook

Comments

It sort of feels like everyone is getting an app store these days. The latest is Mplayit, who have created a Facebook-based app store for BlackBerry, iPhone as well as generally “mobile”. The app store gets users to try before they buy and hopes they will share apps among friends on Facebook. It should be an interesting way for new users to discover BlackBerry apps. The major downside I’m seeing is that they don’t have nearly as big of a catalog as the major players, and I don’t see anything about software bundles, deals of the day or promotions.

yFrog launch Twitter app for BlackBerry

yfrog for blackberry

This is common trend in the BlackBerry space. We see a company such as yFrog add support for another application like Seesmic, and then they launch an app of their own. yFrog have announced their BlackBerry Twitter app with lets you share photos and videos on Twitter from your BlackBerry.

What do you guys think? Is this enough to get you to switch Twitter clients? Or will you run this in conjunction with another Twitter app?

Pageonce reaches 1 million users and gets series A funding

Comments

Pageonce is predominantly a personal finance and account management company. The company has a couple apps, but their most popular is probably their Productivity Assistant. The app helps users to access their personal online accounts and helps them manage passwords and monitor accounts for fraudulent activity.

In recent news, Pageonce have received series A funding from venture capital firm Pitango. With 1 million users, the company is going to expand with this funding and we’ll probably be seeing much more from them soon.

It’s also funny that Pageonce boast having “never used PR” but BlackBerry Cool have written about them 6 times already. Not bad for a company with no PR firm.

While testing the Storm2 battery didn’t go as well as testing the Bold 9700 battery, it was way better than the Internet haters would have you believe. The Storm2′s battery lasted 14 hours under some pretty grueling conditions. I was using voice, WiFi, streaming music, loading maps, running 3G and using the camera, all in that 14 hour period.

So I have to say, for all those complaining the Storm2 battery is awful, I personally did not have that experience. If I had taken even a few simple steps to prolonging the battery life, I probably could have doubled its life.

On that note, here are some tips for making sure your Storm2, and any BlackBerry battery, lasts longer:
