It’s interesting to see where RIM is heading to next. It’s sort of like Where in World is Carmen Sandiego, but for gadget geeks. The Morung Express is reporting that pre-paid BlackBerry data and voice plans are now available in Nagaland, a hill state located in the far north-eastern part of India.
The region is very rural and mostly fueled by agriculture, but BlackBerry data plans would mean residents would start getting Internet service where they may otherwise not have had any. Airtel is responsible for the services, and they have already employed many residents, further helping develop the region.

Got a BBM from Ronen this morning that OS 5.0.0.415 is available for the Bold 9700. This is a pretty exciting leak as it’s supposed to come with a new version of BlackBerry Messenger (5.0.0.42).
Download OS 5.0.0.415 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700.

You have probably used a Polar Mobile app at least once in your BlackBerry life. In fact, you may be reading this story on the BlackBerry Cool mobile app which was built by Polar Mobile. Today, the company was featured in the National Post due to all the apps they have been churning out.
The National Post says the company is relatively unknown in mainstream media, but “within the Canadian technology and media communities, privately held Polar is one of the hottest properties in the rapidly expanding Canadian mobile software industry.” I’d like to think BlackBerry Cool, CrackBerry and a few other Canadian tech blogs like Mobile Syrup are a big help there.
Congratulations guys!

NYC Subway is a great app by RailBandit to help you schedule your train rides and generally save time. The app helps you find the fastest route between any two subway stations and it will show you departure, arrival and wait times. NYC Subway will also work offline, so you don’t have to worry about coverage underground.
NYC Subway is now available for the BlackBerry Storm, which makes the subway maps much nicer to read due to the big screen.
NYC Subway Storm Edition is available for $6.95.

Where’s My Phone is an app that helps you find your BlackBerry. The app works over email and lets you remotely trigger an alarm so you can find your device.
Features include:
- Remotely trigger a loud alarm, even if your BlackBerry is on vibrate or silent mode!
- Display a message on the screen, telling the finder how to contact you.
- Get your BlackBerry’s location via GPS, emailed back to you (on devices with supported GPS).
- Check battery status remotely.
- Learn if someone resets the BlackBerry with a battery pull.
- Have your BlackBerry call you at another number, so you can “hear” where it is.
