After Matt wrote about the BlackBerry launcher for foursquare, we got a link to the Beta and I thought I’d post some impressions and screenshots of the app because it’s really cool, and personally I feel like it’s ready for launch.
The foursquare BlackBerry app has all the features you would expect including checkins, shout outs, place search, leaderboards and access to the foursquare place directory.
Dataoutages.com are reporting that Rogers and RIM have a planned outage on January 17th between 2AM and 6AM EDT. The outage will affect both BIS and BES systems and while some users have received emails saying the outage will only last 10 minutes, I personally have never heard of an outage being that short. I don’t think users will mind this outage so much as it’s planned, but at the same time it’s frustrating for them to be planning outages so soon after their consecutive unplanned outages. At least most of us will sleep through it.
Chalk Media, the company acquired by RIM that specializes in mobile video services, today announced Chalk Pushcast Software 5.4. This is the latest and newly branded version of Mobile Chalkboard, which is a tool for delivering audio and video to BlackBerry devices, most often for training purposes.
Chalk’s Pushcast Software 5.4 features a new UI, deeper integration with BES, SSL security for web access, and support for OS 5.
I’ve only recently really got into foursquare and I wanted to gives a big thanks to @davbak in the CB forums who built a BlackBerry Launcher for the mobile foursquare site m.foursquare.com. While the foursquare BlackBerry app is in development and on it’s way, this has helped me a lot in the meantime. The launcher is available for OS 4.2 or higher.
