HedoneDesign have a new theme out called BerryShell and they’re offering it on sale for 20% off until the 26th of January. This theme is a lot like many of HedoneDesign’s themes in that they have a similar icon set. While I enjoy the homescreen, I personally find myself always preferring the icon set that comes native with the BlackBerry. You can’t beat the simplicity of basic lines but it’s always fun to switch things up for a while. With a Today Preview function and some good icon placement, this theme is definitely worth trying out.
To get 20% off, use the coupon code BSHD20 in the BlackBerry Cool Store.

Cellguru got his hands on the BlackBerry Magnum, the touchscreen QWERTY hybrid that we’ve been hearing rumors about for some time now. While this device has been scrapped and will probably never see the light of day, there are also rumors of a BlackBerry Dakota which could come to market. The Dakota is still in very early planning stages so it’s still in the air about what to expect. It’s unlikely that the Dakota will come in a Bold 9000 form factor, which is sort of a shame.

Tripit for BlackBerry is available as a free download from today on. Tripit puts your TripIt itineraries on your BlackBerry including travel confirmation emails from corporate booking sites and corporate travel agencies. It also syncs travel plans with the built-in BlackBerry calendar which in-turn syncs with a traveler’s Outlook calendar.
While the BlackBerry client is free, there is a paid service. When I last checked, the Pro price was $99 per year. Charter members of TripIt Pro pay no more than $49 per year.

BlackBerry Cool is headquartered in Ottawa, Canada and it’s hard to describe just how insanely cold it is here. On the list of the coldest cities in the world, Ottawa is number 7. I just downloaded the latest Swimsuit Beach theme because it helps me stay warm in Canada’s national and cold capital. Also, a rotating background of babes in swimsuits helps.

Alltel have announced the BlackBerry Curve 8530 for $49.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and a one year contract. This is a fairly good price but I still think this device should be free. It’s part of the low-end BlackBerry family and it would sell far more units being free.

Got a tip that Boost is shipping their 8330 with OS 5.0.0.438 which is strange because Sprint is not. It could be that the CB forums member who posted it, has a leaked version on their desktop which was installed, or a hoax altogether. If Boost is in fact shipping the 8330 with OS 5, that would mean an official OS launch is just around the corner.
