The guys at XDA-Dev have leaked the BlackBerry Application Suite for Windows Mobile users. The leaked suite is said to have been installed on TAEL ROM Standard WM 6.5.1 and runs fine. There is a caveat that you must be on a BES for this install to work.

BBnews.pl have a screenshot of OS 5.0.1.205 and while the screenshot isn’t big news, it could be a sign that the OS is soon to arrive. It’s possible that this OS will arrive with the next generation of devices that we’ll see in Q2, Q3, which we’ve heard will be the start of Widget support. Considering RIM have already started working on OS 6, one can only hope they push this out soon.

WorldMate is a great app we’ve written about before on BlackBerryCool. The app helps make travel easier by integrating your travel itenerary into your BlackBerry, and providing some additional helpful features around that itinerary.
In the latest update, WorldMate have added the ability to connect with your LinkedIn network, and share your travel and meeting itineraries. Users are also able to browse for nearby LinkedIn Connections, as well as get notified when LinkedIn Connections are in town upon arrival.

Back when I wrote about a new app called Spoken Translator that translates between English and Arabic over voice almost instantly, I got really excited. It seems that technology is coming increasingly close to the Babel Fish Universal Translator from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
The NYT broke the story today that Google is developing mobile software that could universally translate between the world’s 6,000+ languages. While the technology is still a couple years away, apps like Spoken Translator are a good preview of things to come.

OpenTable have a variety of partnerships including one with Poynt, as well as their own BlackBerry and smartphone apps. Today, they announced they have seated 2 million diners through their mobile apps. OpenTable estimates this has resulted in more than $100 million for its restaurant partners through mobile. This is definitely justification for more restaurants and services catering to the mobile market.
