I am new to using a Blackberry. I just got the 8530 and have downloaded Opera Mini 5. It seems the blackberry mouse doesn't work in Opera. Can anyone help? Is there a tutorial online? Is there some setting that needs to be changed?

Do Not install on BB 8530 Curve. Problems with the cursor having a jerky response. My BB took along time to reboot too after uninstalling. I thought if I waited until the official version was out bugs would be addressed. I'll wait until it's fixed before trying again.

worked on 9700 for 3-4 days. some sites, the font becomes a line if zoomed out. not readable until you zoom in. navigation is laggy. get bolt 2.0 if you want speed (no zoom though)

I have an issue on my 8310 with v5. Every now and again, the pop up menu system (whic contains refresh, short cuts, drop down menu etc. and CRUCIALLY the exit button) stope responding. I can open the address bar and type URLs, but cannot access anything else, and as a result, cannot exit the app.

The only way I've been able to stop and restart the app, is to pull the battery.

I've got used to the useability and like it, but this issue makes me want v4 back.

On an AT&T 9700, I have to admit I liked the beta 2 better.

This new version seems to have some issues with navigating with the trackpad, namely it scrolls pages way too fast and skips 3 letters at a time in text entry fields. I didn't have these problems in the beta 2.

Confirmed: 9700 is now bricked because following the install of Opera Mini 5. I had Opera Mini 5 beta loaded prior. Did Opera Mini 5 install, which installed the program beside beta, not overwriting it. But, both could not open at the same time. Set up went fine. But, on reboot, BB 9700 now hangs. Can't be accessed via BB Desktop Manager.

Buyer Beware. Very poor beta program Opera is running. After running in to problems with 9700 in beta, they should have tested this more thoroughly.

That's a shame. They're supposed to be out of Beta. I sort of blame RIM for some of these issues though. It must be really difficult to build a decent 3rd party browser considering RIM are protective of the useful APIs. You would think Opera would be a trusted enough company that they could open a few back doors for them to help the poor browsing experience we all have to put up with.

I've been on Opera mini since 3.*, and this is a huge disappointment; I thought some of the issues in beta would be fixed before the final release came out. The navigation is funky, not at all adapted to the style of the Blackberry; there is still no inline form completion; and, worst of all, the font sizes are impossibly small to read, even with glasses, and even set to “large.” I can't imagine how anyone can read the “small” settings without a magnifying glass, and given that most Blackberry users are baby boomers or older, it seems they've written off the market based just on that fact. I need the space more than I need this app; for now, it's the native browser, Bolt, and wait for the toolkit version to come out.

If you own the 9700, DO NOT install this new Opera 5 version. On reset, my BB now hangs mid-boot. This also does not allow me to access the OS via the desktop manager. So, right now I'm stuck. Suggestions welcome.

I had previously installed the first and second beta versions of Beta mini. The second version was not fully functional on the 9700 but Opera then quietly updated the same package and it worked. It's been great.

Today, I saw this post, installed the new Opera 5 version, set it up, noted it worked well, reset my BB and... hang...

Suggestions for a workaround welcome in this thread!!! Others, careful this Opera. It looks like they have poor Quality Assurance in their beta testing.
