RIM Hint BlackBerry Messenger News Coming Soon

RIM have posted a message on their Facebook page saying that some exciting things are coming for BlackBerry Messenger in the days (and weeks) ahead. They’re asking everyone to double check that they’re running the latest version of BBM (5.0.0.57) and we’re guessing whatever the news is will require the latest version. If I had to guess what the news will be, I’m going to guess it isn’t a major update to BBM, as we would have heard something by now. The news is likely a promotion or marketing campaign that you’ll be sort of interested in but not really.

    Isn't that cute. RIM is starting a campaign around their only competitive advantage :D

    just some thoughts here. yea, given the UI features, w/o updating the version again…what could be _possible_ would be integration w/ other messenger services via the email address (i.e. add a hotmail, live, yahoo address) so you get integrated messenging. beyond that, don't see what could be server side that could use the existing info. RSS as mentioned would be pretty kewl, but not sure how you'd add it (new group?).

    anyway, my 2 cents
