I have a Bold 9000 and my phone company is SFR in France (Vodafone)
I am currently in the Netherlands which is about 450 km from hometown Paris and feel forced to keep my BlackBerry shut all the time. Why? It is LinkedIn that is running in the background and using WAP/internet as I just found out. I intended not to use WAP/internet over 3G because of the high cost ( being a subscriber at SFR in France) at 7€ per day. Just running LinkedIn in the background while not even using it costs me 7€ per day. I run no internet, no GPS or whatsoever to keep the cost bearable. Why the hell is LinkedIn pushing me to over 60€ of wasted money while spending a few days in the family. Why do I have to avoid using my BlackBerry at all, even as a phone? After all I have a Europe Passport option in my SFR subscription that enables me to call at local tariff from all over Europe.

As long as LinkedIn doesn't close completely when I whish to, you should avoid downloading the BlackBerry application. Or it will cost you a fortune.

I have a Bold 9700 and although the app will load it keeps coming up with an error message when I try and view connections. Any ideas?

An alright app so far but not what I would call a super app either. I was able to install and connect fine but annoyed that I cannot close the app (Bold 9000 5.0.0.509). I ended up uninstalling until they fix the app to close. I run enough stuff in the bg already.

I have this installed on my Bold 9000. It runs great. I have been waiting for an application like this for while.

I didn't notice until @Dave pointed it out, there is really no way to close the app. The close option on the menu just pushes it into the background.

I had the same thing. Had to reinstall the OS, everything wiped (data + applications), see http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/viewContent.do?e… for instructions. Not sure if the 552 error is related to the LinkedIn app though.

Only benefit: I upgraded to OS 5.0 which was released just yesterday.

That's a little odd. Being able to close an app is pretty important for saving battery.

I only could use with wifi connection. Apparently BIS is not working in this version.

Curve 8900 with OS 4.6 works fine. Did notice that there's no way to actually close the app, it stays running in the background

I haven't got it solved yet, but I'm being told to double check that all the permissions have been set to “allow” in options>applications>edit permissions. Didn't work for me but it might work for you.

I have this loaded on my bold 9700, and BIS is working fine! I am running the OS 5.0.0.586.. Runs great and it has the feel of Facebook, and Twitter from RIM….

loaded and works fine on BIS curve with 4.3. no issues. has a familiar and consistent look n feel (ie. facebook,etc).
