Just head over to: Options > Device > Application Management > Memory Check what apps are taking up the most space. The top of the list will be BlackBerry 6, Browser and Messages. Obviously, you don’t want to delete any of these, but there may be a beta app at the top of this list that’s taking up a lot of memory. If so, you may want to update it or completely remove it. Be sure to cycle through the time periods to by clicking under the Memory title and selecting “Max This Week”. You can also check “Application Storage” to make sure you have a proper amount of memory available. I train call centre agents to do BlackBerry tech support and we use the BlackBerry Technical Solution Center for all kinds of problem-solving. I wish more customers knew about it!

Media > Pictures > Device Memory > Menu > Options > Change Device Memory Limit to 12MB > Menu > Save

On my 8520, 5.0.0.554, I ave 5/15/32Mb. I usually had it on 5mb.
Why do you say 12Mb? What's the reasoning behind it?

Great tips. With regards to the hard-reset, users can also use Alt, Right Shift, Del to reset instead of having to remove their case and physically remove the battery. I find this much easier. And like you said, it's the first thing you should do when trouble shooting your BB.
