Dipdive is a social network created by will.i.am that began as a place to host the video “Yes We Can” and has expanded to be somewhat like MySpace. The social network looks as though it has a ton of funding from RIM, as videos on the site constantly feature people talking and using BlackBerrys, and the homepage advertises the Black Eyed Peas concert sponsored by BlackBerry.
I thought I would give Dipdive a try as RIM seem to be investing a lot of money in both Dipdive and the Black Eyed Peas, and their BlackBerry app is available as a free download. It’s hard to review the application without reviewing the social network as well, but they’re intertwined and both relevant.

SocialScope is still very much in private beta but their app has continues to grow and get updated. The latest version has a very clean UI with additional social networks and features. It’s not clear why the company has chosen to keep the app hidden from the public, but I’m sure there are advantages to keeping a small beta testing group until the product is totally polished. Lets take a look at where the app is now and what can be improved.
SocialScope is building itself as a hub for social networks. Currently, you can add multiple Twitter accounts, a Facebook feed, a Foursquare feed and a Flickr account. The SocialScope feed is the amalgamation of all of these accounts in one feed. After adding several accounts, the feed gets a little hectic, and I can only imagine how cluttered it would get if you have thousands of Twitter accounts followed.

A new version of Visible Vote is out that allows users to compare themselves to any member of Congress. Visible Vote allows you to write congress personal letters from your Blackberry, as well as vote on issues your legislators are voting on. It’s the ultimate democratic BlackBerry app.
Couple other nice things have been added with this release:
- Users can write any member of congress.
- Users can call any member of congress.
- Users can write comments on any member of congress.
- Ignoring User comments you don’t wish to see anymore.
- Easier Settings Layout for users to add more legislators
- Easier for users to add new bills to Visible Vote.
Currently, the app has over 65,000 users and they’re hoping to reach a million by end of year. I would love to see this app get featured in App World.
