Still three big problems making the app unusable (still!)
1. Launching the app automatically initiates polling for status updates and contact changes. Unfortunately, this stalls the UI on the blackberry, so access to remainder of the app is stalled until the polling is complete. Active users give up at this point.

2. Too many "LinkedIn" interface build-outs...which clutters up the contact UI for email/text. Linkedin is a network, not an email replacement - and usability will make it a priority for users, rather than deep device integration.

3. Battery drain still an issue, because of over-polling in the background!

Linkedin App developers - get in touch if you want some mobile service UI pointers!

I echo the comment regarding battery drain. When I go to bed, my 9700 usually has approximately 40% remaining give-or-take. It varies, but that's usually after 17-18 hours of use.

After installing the LinkedIn application, I was below 10% by dinner. This was the case for about a week. As mentioned, there's no way to shut it down. After removing the application, the battery levels went back to normal instantly.

I have so many beta/1.0 apps (socialscope, xobni, Tungle) running right now that it's difficult to point the battery drain finger at LinkedIn, but that's common with first version apps. Also, agree about background option.
