More Leaked Pics of the BlackBerry Clamshell 9670 and BlackBerry Atlas 8980

We’re starting to see more pictures of the upcoming BlackBerry 9670 clamshell, and the BlackBerry Atlas 8980. We know the 9670 has a 5 megapixel camera, but that doesn’t deter from the fact that it might be the ugliest BlackBerry ever produced. It’s fat and looks like it would be very awkward in your pocket. We have been hearing about the Atlas as well, previously known as the 8910, and rumored to be heading to China. This device looks much nicer than the fat blob sitting beside it, and it’s definitely a slick looking modern smartphone. Too bad the 8980 doesn’t have some of that BlackBerry 6 goodness.     Not sure i like the look of these, it doesn't look like RIM have come up with anything new here.

    I actually like the message preview feature the pearl flip had. Clamshell will find a market.

    You're absolutely right about that. The clamshell will definitely find a market. These devices are always based on extensive market research, and they surely have the numbers that say users want this form factor.

    No 3G on the Atlas??????? You've gotta be f'king kidding me. Is RIM aware that all three wireless companies in mainland China have 3G bands rolled out already? Oh I forgot, they're not even aware that there's a 700 million strong wireless market here.

    No doubt about the form factor; it's the execution that leaves us baffled. My guess is, RIM was being so secretive that they didn't ask anyone outside the company what they though of this specific design.
