No doubt about the form factor; it's the execution that leaves us baffled. My guess is, RIM was being so secretive that they didn't ask anyone outside the company what they though of this specific design.

No 3G on the Atlas??????? You've gotta be f'king kidding me. Is RIM aware that all three wireless companies in mainland China have 3G bands rolled out already? Oh I forgot, they're not even aware that there's a 700 million strong wireless market here.

You're absolutely right about that. The clamshell will definitely find a market. These devices are always based on extensive market research, and they surely have the numbers that say users want this form factor.
