BIS 3.0 2-Way Gmail Sync in EMEA? Let Us Know!

We received an email yesterday about EMEA users possibly having 2-way Gmail sync upgrades, and reading around the blogs it seems miBlackBerry are reporting this as well. The comments and forum posts have been a little confused about the situation, as some users think they have it, while others don’t. I thought I would put it out to any EMEA readers and see if they noticed the 2-way Gmail sync. The original tip came from Vodafone Spain.

Let us know if you’re upgraded and now get 2-way Gmail sync.

Ford Fiesta 2011 to Launch with SYNC AppLink for BlackBerry

Comments

Ford will be launching their Fiesta 2011 line with a new in-car infotainment system called SYNC AppLink. The software will allow for hands-free voice control over BlackBerry and Android apps including Pandora, Stitcher and the Twitter app OpenBeak.

While tweeting from your car might seem dangerous, there is some potential to use Twitter in a way that would make driving safer. For example, we previously wrote about a group in Venezuela that use Twitter to warn others about potholes and traffic conditions. It would be interesting to see a driver using Twitter in their car for a similar purpose.

SYNC is coming to BlackBerry first, which is also something we’re not used to seeing. Perhaps the acquisition of QNX might have some interesting implications here.

BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac Updated to 1.0.3

Comments

BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac has been updated to version 1.0.3 with support for Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Some of the fixes in this release include:

  • General – BlackBerry Desktop Manager did not connect with some BlackBerry 7130s using BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.
  • Synchronizing data – Modifying an occurrence or the full series of a recurring event on your device resulted in a duplicated entry on Microsoft Entourage. This was intermittent.
  • Calendar – Attendee status changed from “Accepted” to “Invited” after changing the meeting details after synchronization.
  • Contacts – Home fields were duplicated on your computer, if a different home number is added on the device and on the computer to an existing contact.
