MobHolic is the first app by Rodrigue Hajjar that is a lot like the free I Love BlackBerry app, but comes with a website to discover more analytics about your BlackBerry usage. The app also has a leaderboard to rank phone addiction both internationally and locally. Personally, I would love to see this app become a game, with users constantly competing for the most interaction, much like Foursquare.
MobHolic is $2.99 in App World but it goes to supporting a student BlackBerry developer who just wrote his first app. Feel free to support the community.
The SIRIUS/XM app for BlackBerry has been available in the US since early February, 2010. The app is an extension of the premium paid service, and gives you 120 channels, just like on the iPhone app. We’ve learned that the app is now available in Canada, so feel free to check it out and download for your device.
Update: This software can utilize both the BlackBerry Bluetooth Stereo Gateway and the BlackBerry Visor Mount. If you’ve already paired the device, it’ll work without the need for further configuration.
Lookout is a new app for BlackBerry that aims to prevent your smartphone from security risks such as malware, viruses and hackers. The app is still in Beta, and while it’s difficult to determine whether it’s effective, it’s a free app so there isn’t much to lose. Features include:
Scans every app you download to make sure it’s safe.
Backs up your contacts and photos and allows you to access that data from any web browser.
Routine data syncs that can be scheduled to run automatically.
Restore your data to an existing phone or a new phone.
Allow users to easily track down their device and find it if it is lost or stolen.
Remotely wipe the data from your Blackberry if it is permanently lost.
HedoneDesign have a new theme called Chryom that looks like a real piece of art. Chryom is a circular theme that has buttons for Messages, SMS & MMS, Calendar, Phone, Music, and Browser. The battery and signal meters are embedded onto the circular plate, making them integrated into the theme. Compatible with OS 5, Chryom is definitely a cool theme worth checking out.
Nan Palmero and I, Matt Cameron, will be at WES 2010 representing BlackBerryCool so come say “hi” to us at the show. The above video is just a quick chat we had about the upcoming show, and the quality of the upload is so bad that I would suggest listening to it and avoiding the video.
When we recorded the video, we weren’t sure who the musical acts would be, but we now know it’s Bedouin Soundclash, Joss Stone and guest DJ will.i.am. Will.i.am will also be a panelist on Next Generation Mobile Users featuring futurist Ben Silverman, CEO and Founder of Electus.
