Mobile Spy for BlackBerry Now Captures Photos and Emails

Comments

Mobile Spy is software for BlackBerry that is used to silently record user activity of children or employees. The app logs usage information which is then viewable online in real time. Several log types are included such as entire SMS text messages, actual GPS locations and call information. All logs can be reviewed from anywhere inside a secure online control panel.

With Mobile Spy version 4.0, employers and parents now have the ability to view every photo captured and every email sent or received. Other features added in version 4.0 include the ability to view all contacts, calendar events, memos and identification information of any cell tower the device enters into range of.

Mobile Spy runs on all modern BlackBerry devices, and costs about $100 per year.

Quelos Theme with 3D Icons and Homescreen Carousel

Comments

Quelos is a decent theme with a carousel of 12 3D icons on the homescreen. The theme also features a numbered battery and signal meter on either side of the carousel, making it a unique way to check your device’s status. Quelos has a Today preview for the first 4 icons, so make sure you organize them as such. With all that space on the homescreen, this theme should be accompanied by a nice wallpaper.

[Audio] WES 2010: Interview with Baltimore Police on BlackBerry

Comments

Click here to listen to an interview with Gayle Guilford, Director of Management Information Systems for the Baltimore Police.

I conducted an interview at WES 2010 with Gayle Guilford, Director of Management Information Systems for the Baltimore Police. She and her team have been working hard piloting and implementing the use of BlackBerry smartphones as an integral part of a beat cop’s tool belt.

PocketCop by InterAct can access the police database for outstanding warrants, mugshots, and info. The system also uses GPS asset tracking so that dispatchers can get a bird’s eye view of police coverage, and dispatch backup much quicker and from closer positioned units than ever before. The camera can also be used to gather evidence instead of calling a police photographer in from the station.

RIM Re-Files Patent for New Conference Call Interface

Comment

We’ve said it a million times, but filing a patent doesn’t prove RIM is going to implement, but at least it puts it a little closer in the realm of possibility. RIM recently re-filed a patent for a conference call interface that looks very much in line with the sort of uber-visual interface we’ve seen with BlackBerry 6. From the patent drawings, we can see the conference call interface displays avatars of those in the call, along with some information about the person such as name and phone number.

While there isn’t much to see here other than some design mockups, it looks like a great start. A more visual conference call experience is something I would love on my BlackBerry, and would add a little more functionality to the experience. I’m going to assume this new conference call feature allows you to select those on the call and interact with them over email, BBM etc.

What would you like to see improved in conference calls on BlackBerry?
