BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider and OS 6 Full Video and Images

Comments

Some really clean pictures of the BlackBerry Bold 9800 slider have emerged and the device looks much nicer than we previously thought. All it took was someone with a high-rez camera to take some decent pictures and some comparison shots to see just how great this device looks. From the picture post, we know a few specs about the 9800 including:

  • No SurePress
  • 5 MP camera
  • 512MB of RAM
  • No convenience keys on the side
  • DX-1 battery

Along with the new pictures is a full video walkthrough of OS 6. The video is in Chinese but we’ll have details about it shortly. Watching someone use OS 6, it doesn’t look like there is anything tremendously new going on. It seems like OS 6 is all about user interface and adding a more visual experience to using a BlackBerry. There are new gestures with OS 6, and it makes you wonder what OS 6 will bring for non-touchscreen devices. Make sure to click the ‘read more’ link and check out all the new pics.

    A few thoughts…

UI looks a lot like the SenseUI from HTC, that I'm not a big fan of, but not different enough for me to really care.

Only one convince key, which is different.

You can see that RIM has made good use of the Viigo acquisition.

Included a memory cleaner which should hopefully help clean out some of those junk apps from AppWorld.

Options have been redesigned. A bit of a pain for those of us who are used to the current configuration, but a huge improvement for those who are new to the platform.

    I wish it had SurePress.

Seeing alot of the stuff that Brian Zubert talked about in his webinar a few months back…

Memory Cleaner is there in OS 5: Options> Security Options> Information.
Not sure how the Viigo acquisition helped RIM – unless the new FEEDs is directly benefited from it.

SurePress – that was a good technology, and if it debuted the way its currently implemented in the Storm 1 then maybe it would've received better industry and consumer welcome.

I'm really happy that this particular model design's target market sales will NOT be affected by being released after the next iPhone. This will, and should FINALLY erase all comparisons between two completely unrelated platforms.

Memory cleaner has been in the device software for a long time – nothing new. Viigo? What does Viigo have to do with this?
