Tower defense games are great for mobile because they fit on a small screen and you can get some quick gameplay out of them. Candy Defense is the latest tower defense game from NickelBuddy, the same people who brought you Fierce Towers. In this game, pirates have invaded Candy Island by land, sea and air. It’s up to you to set up defenses and stop them.
This game features:
4 different maps each requiring a different play style.
4 Difficulty levels.
Some maps with predefined paths; some require maze building.
A lot of apps launched this week and every content provider has a way of providing all the World Cup 2010 news to your BlackBerry. We didn’t hear from Viigo this week which is strange because they’re usually very active when it comes to major sporting events such as the World Cup. The last press release was from March when the company joined RIM, and perhaps joining such a large organization naturally slows down your company. We’ve been hearing more about OS 6 and with each leaked video of the 9800 or 9670 clamshell, we learn a little more. OS 6 will feature a lot of new APIs for developers to play with and hopefully we’ll see an influx of apps that leverage these new features. This coming week we’ll also see the launch of App World 2.0 which should bring some interesting news for developers and users alike. Be sure to catch up on a week of BlackBerry after the jump. UPDATE: Another feature of the new App World includes the ability to open featured app icons with a single tap on the Storm.
The latest version of App World is available and the upgrade notification comes to your inbox. Ideally, you should also get something on the icon. According to the BlackBerry Twitter account, you can now view reviews over WiFi. We’re expecting more features from App World 2.0 in the very near future so stay tuned on BBCool to hear what gets announced.
Download the latest version of App World from App World and maybe App World will become a Top Free app in App World.
Polar Mobile has launched WC2010, a free app that features a unique sorting function that enables users to arrange game schedules and stats for their favorite teams. With a tabbed layout, WC2010 allows users to navigate easily and quickly through the App to access editorial news, scores, stats, schedules and standings while on the go, in real time. WC2010 supports five languages including English, French, Italian, Spanish and German.
It looks like RIM is announcing App World 2.0 on June 16th, as they’ve sent out invitations to a press event where they’re showing “what’s new in BlackBerry App World”. We’re not sure exactly what they’ll be announcing, but RIM is fairly predictable in its announcement strategy. The general approach is tell you what they’re going to announce and then 10 months or so later have an event where they say “we said we would deliver X and here it is.”
So what did they say will arrive for App World 2.0? Here is what we’re expecting:
Credit card billing
Carrier billing
Preload on all OS 5 devices and higher
WiFi downloads
Desktop catalog to mirror on-device App World
Microtransactions for games, premium video content etc.
More account management options and search improvements
Greater number of enterprise apps in the catalog (new category perhaps)
Free and Paid catalogs in all countries App World currently supports
