Stranded: Mysteries of Time is a sci-fi adventure game by Glu.
Stranded takes place on a mysterious and lush desert island. The game opens with very little info as to who you are and where to go. With a little exploration, you realize you are a scientist working at a secret facility. The plot immediately reveals a genius scientist and his time machine. Shortly after his presentation you discover that the time machine has been sabotaged. When asked if the scientist had any enemies he replies: “Time travel can create unknown enemies.”
I won’t get into spoilers but the game is surprising in its design. You can travel millions of years back in time to the time of the dinosaurs, or you can travel one year into the future. There are also times of day, so there are different things happening during day and night times that will help you in your quests. A good tip is if you need to grow something, plant it in the present then travel a year in the future to harvest. Continue reading ‘Game Review: Stranded: Mysteries of Time by Glu’
Through a partnership with Blippy, a social-commerce site, the BlackBerryCool Store now lets you share apps with your friends using secure a OAuth system. You can now connect your BBCool store account with Blippy, and let your friends know of any cool deals you’ve found. No other personal information other than the app you purchased, with its name and price, is shared. This service is totally optional but if you have a lot of BlackBerry friends, they’ll surely appreciate the heads-up on some cool deals or apps.
Skylab Mobilesystems has launched a speedometer app that uses the GPS to track your speed and display it in a variety of units including m/s (meters per second), km/h (kilometers per hour), mi/h (miles per hour), knots (identical with nautical miles per hour). Skylab has suggested that this app isn’t very effective when walking in the city, because tall buildings might block or reflect the GPS signal. The GPS works best in an open area outside, which makes this app perfect for a hobby such as boating.
Features include:
Hooks up to internal and external Bluetooth GPS receivers.
Shows current speed provided by GPS receiver.
Large digits for easy reading when you’re on the move.
It’s a little ridiculous that Theme Builder has fallen behind the release of the Bold 9650 and Pearl 9100. Currently, there are some workarounds for the 9650 as the device falls into the 96xx family, but there is nothing for the 9100 as the screen size is unique and Theme Builder hasn’t been updated. Developers have been submitting themes to Mobihand and saying they’re compatible for the 9100, which led some BlackBerryCool readers to point out that the themes category in the BlackBerryCool Store should be empty and whatever themes that were there were mislabeled. The problem is now fixed but it seems App World is having a similar issue on their end, as App World on the Pearl 3G shows 24 themes. If you download any of these themes, you obviously get an error. Thankfully, you won’t get charged because the download fails, but it’s still going to have a negative impact on the user experience.
