App World is featuring the TD Bank app right now in their carousel and the app is pretty decent. The app currently forces you to a mobile site in order to do your banking, which slows down the app tremendously. Ideally, everything would be contained within the application, allowing you to pay bills and check your balances very quickly. Another downside of being pushed to a web page is that you must constantly re-enter your password. While it may add another layer of security, this could be avoided by placing a password on the application itself.

The LinkedIn app for BlackBerry has been updated to version 1.1 and the major updates include support for the Storm, Pearl and more than 21 devices running OS 4.3 or later. The app is also now localized for Brazil and Itality, which may be hot spots for the social network.

First Orion announced an update to its popular PrivacyStar app for BlackBerry. PrivacyStar is a call blocking and reverse caller lookup app that now features SmartBlock, a service that takes the top blocked numbers from amongst PrivacyStar subscribers and proactively blocks them across its entire user base. PrivacyStar also features a new Do Not Disturb function that allows users to redirect callers to their voicemail while simultaneously sending them a text message acknowledging their call.

Today, Steve Jobs presented his State of the Apple keynote address at WWDC. The event began with some interesting data regarding the platform, and culminated in the launch of the iPhone 4. As usual, the event was generally well put together, with only a minor hiccup in the demo process because according to the organizers, 570 WiFi base stations in the room kills connectivity.
In the introduction phase of the keynote, Jobs pointed out some interesting statistics about their App Store. There are currently 225,000 apps, with 15k apps submitted every week, in 30 different languages and 95% are approved within 7 days. In order to address the media’s attention over those apps which are not approved, Jobs pointed out that apps that are not approved are for the following three reasons:

Blur Racing for BlackBerry is a mobile racing game based on a console racing game by Bizarre Creations- the studio who produced the now-legendary Geometry Wars series on Xbox 360. Blur is a racing game with lots of power-ups and different modes of play. The style of play reminds me of a lot of destruction-style race games in which it’s just as valuable to be leading the pack, as it is to be destroying or damaging other cars.
