AT&T has announced two new pricing plans for smartphone customers based on wireless data usage. The new plans include $15/month for 200MB and $25/month for 2GB. Previously, AT&T BlackBerry users would pay $30 for unlimited* data and this new plan segments users based on how much data they use and offers a sensible rate.
According to Consumer Reports, BlackBerry users consume about 54MB of data per month on average. This average is probably skewed by the users who don’t use any data at all and the small group of users who consume incredible amounts of data. Overall, it’s probably best that AT&T sets these new prices at 200MB and 2GB, but the power user may tend to go over the limit.
How much data do you use in a month?

There are two new free themes from Purelab out called Pure.X and Pure.Y. Pure.X features 6 icons on the homescreen, a pretty big clock, hidden Today and it is generally simple and “pure”. Pure.Y is also very minimalistic and is considered the neutral version of Pure.X. Pure.Y features transitions which is one of the nicer OS 5 theme features, making it a better candidate for download. They’re both free so check them out.
Download Pure.X for your 8900, 9630 and 9700 on OS.5 OTA.

The BlackBerry Beta Zone now has a feedback tool app that currently allows you to send feedback about the homescreen and “general feedback”. There isn’t much here but I’m sure after some time RIM will update the app to include more features and the ability to send feedback about more specific issues such as 1st party apps and hardware. The app seems to be modeled after RIM’s internal feedback tool, which allows RIM employees to send feedback about devices that aren’t yet out to market.
Hopefully RIM collects a lot of feedback from this application and they speed up their response time for common frustrations.
Also, for those who downloaded the app already, remember that there is no icon for this application. The feedback app appears at the top of the menu.
Register for the Beta Zone at blackberry.com/beta.

Catalyst have a pretty cool theme out called Pimp My Ride: Ferrari Edition. The theme lets the user change the body color, window tint, neon underglow lights and rims. There are 5 bodypaints available, 6 neon glows, 6 rims, 6 window tints and OS 5.0 transition effects. Pimp My Ride is also available as a hidden Today area version. It’s great to see theme developers expanding on the features that are available in a theme, and I’m hoping RIM realizes the potential of themes and builds on them even more.
Check out the Pimp My Ride: Ferrari Edition theme in the BlackBerryCool Store.

FML is a great site when you’re feeling down because it’s a compilation of messages from people who are having a worse day than you. It’s good to be reminded that relative to what’s going on in the rest of the world, your probably doing alright. Here’s a funny FML:
“Today, I forgot to do my French homework, but since it was an online worksheet, I told my teacher my internet wasn’t working. I told her with an e-mail. FML”
The FML app has been around for about a month now and when it first launched it was free. Users reported the app was a little buggy and drained battery life. Now the app is upgraded to v1.0.1 and costs $1.99, and comes with more features for the FML fan-base. Check it out in the BlackBerryCool Store.
UPDATE: It’s actually downloadable from their site for free.
