Free BBGPSGolf Updated with Ability To Tweet Marked Shots with Maps

BBGPSGolf is a free golf app that lets community members map out local golf courses with Google or Bing maps. The current database of golf courses has over 10k fully mapped courses. Recently, the app was updated with some great new features such as the ability to tweet your birdies/eagles and all marked shots with a URL to show the shot on Google maps. This feature is compatible on all browsers as it uses both static images for mobile devices and a flash version for desktop browsers.

Poll: What Unreleased BlackBerry Would You Buy in 2010?

There are rumors that we’ll be seeing at least six more BlackBerry devices with OS 6 before 2011. Among these devices are some interesting form factors including a touch slider, clamshell and possibly a touchscreen Bold/Curve. There are pictures of many of these devices which confirm that they are at least being worked on but doesn’t prove they will make it to market. We’ve heard the touchscreen Bold was scrapped, but it could be brought to market if the carriers see potential for it.

When the iPhone 4 was leaked, Apple complained that it negatively impacted sales of the iPhone 3GS. Everyone who was going to buy an iPhone decided to wait until the new iPhone 4 launched. The same could be true of BlackBerry leaks. Many users are going to wait before buying a new BlackBerry until one of the rumored devices launches. Are you one of these users? BlackBerry-Based WIC Pager Pilot Program at Children’s Hospital

Currently, many hospitals use an outdated pager system to get in touch with doctors on call. This solution does not allow admins to know whether the message was received and relies on a code system that doesn’t provide much detail as to the nature of the page. Wallace Wireless have a BlackBerry-based solution that brings pager like services to BlackBerry users. The system is in the process of being piloted at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), and if it’s successful could set a new standard for healthcare professionals.

BlackBerry in China: User Frustrations Such as Price and Native Input

Recently, the BlackBerry Curve 8910 launched with Digital China. The success of BlackBerry in China is interesting because the market brings some incredible potential especially since trade with the country has been running at a deficit for most Western countries. If Research in Motion can sell a few million devices in China, they will set a standard for the smartphone industry.

Li Tong is RIM’s General Manager in China and he sat down with BerryTimes.cn for an interview during the BlackBerry Curve 8910 launch. The interview has some interesting questions from a Chinese user perspective that highlight a lot of what RIM is going to need to work on in order to be successful in the region.

Game Review: Batman: Guardian of Gotham for BlackBerry

Batman: Guardian of Gotham is a rail-based shooter for BlackBerry by Glu. The object is to take out the enemies on-screen by throwing Battarangs, and to weaken, then tie up stronger enemies using a special takedown maneuver which you have to charge. When there are lots of enemies on-screen you can execute a Battarang combination by tapping the direction of the next target.
