I received this mail can you please confirm if this is correct or not?

Dear All,

Blackberry is giving away free phones as part of their promotional drive. All you need to do is send a copy of this email to 8 people; and you will receive your phone in less than 24 hrs. Please note that if you send to more than 20 people you will receive two phones.

Listen Idiot, I am dealing with this for a client. If you took notice of the subject you would understand, but, then how could I expect that from a person who can only see as far as there eyelashes. All I needed was a yes or no. Get some education.

Actually, yes. It’s real. Sorry for being so curt.

BlackBerry is giving away 2 free devices worth around $1200 to everyone who sends 20 emails. There are no restrictions on this contest, so that means around 6.6 billion people are eligible. The contest won’t reach everyone, I’m sure only 2 billion or so will respond. BlackBerry will therefore be giving away 2.4 trillion dollars worth of BlackBerrys. Their market cap is only 28.56 billion, so I’m not sure how they’re going to afford this contest, but I’m so happy they’re doing it. All of my friends and I are entering. You should too.

    You made an awful mistake. The cost for RIM would only be around $150 per phone, so they will only need $300×2 billion= 600 billion; please be careful next time. Of course we still have the issue of the market cap, but I'm sure the financial advisors of Rommel's customer will figure something out…

    I really want to know who Rommel's customer is, basically to recommend him/her to look for a different law firm, it gives me the chills to imagine this guy representing anybody in a court of law. Or maybe I am absolutely wrong and his complete lack of knowledge of basic math (and common sense for that matter) is because his brain is completely devoted to law and he is fantastic at that. Let’s hope this is the case.

    You're right. The email actually came with a picture of two Storms, and in jest I referred to what is probably better described as an MSRP or RRP of $1200.

    But seriously, does this law firm hire anyone with a pulse? :)

    It is so easy to check if something is a hoax. Well not always, but sometimes. Just try something like Hoax Slayer or one of the other sites. I feel like doing something very stupid everytime I get some e-mail that is so evidently a hoax. This is, in short, what Hoax Slayer has to say about this Blackberry promo: “Any message that claims that you can get something – be it free products or services, vouchers, gifts, competition entries or cash – just for forwarding an email is virtually certain to be a hoax. If you receive such a message, please do not further the spread of such nonsense by passing it on to others.”
