The improvements are faster load times, and push notifications–instead of having to assign an email to it to receive notifications.

Type the .jad URL into your BB browser directly. I had the same issue when I clicked on the URL on my desktop.

Just downloaded the beta and it seems to be running MUCH faster than previously. I'm in a low coverage area (brick office bldg), and the app's loading my friends almost instantly. Much better than 1.7, and it hasn't (fingers crossed) hijacked my Calendar…yet. I might actually use this version.
