BlackBerry Bold 9780 Running OS 6.0 with 512MB of RAM

Comments

BlackBerry bold 9780

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 has been spotted and it looks a lot like the Bold 9700. This device is sporting some of the following specs:

  • BlackBerry 6
  • 512MB RAM
  • 480×360 resolution non-touchscreen
  • GSM
  • 3G
  • 802.11 b/g

There isn’t much to say about the device at this point other than it’s good to see another non-touchscreen device running BlackBerry 6. The design of the device is nothing we haven’t seen before, except the bezel on the Bold 9780 is darker than the 9700.

BlackBerryCool Roundup for the Week of July 19th

The big news this week is all about Antennagate. Apple took a jab at a few other smartphone manufacturers trying to claim that their antenna issue isn’t confined to the iPhone and that other smartphones, including the Bold 9700, also have antenna issues. RIM’s CEOs responded to this claim with a stern letter to Steve Jobs calling it a “self-made debacle”. RIM is normally a pretty tight-lipped company that sticks to their own and this was definitely out of character for the company. Regardless, the letter was very much needed as Jobs’ statements needed a response.

Be sure to check out this past week in BlackBerry as we have a ton of content you may have missed.

BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 Coming to Rogers Q3 2010

Comments

rogers blackberry curve 3g

This pic comes to us from our friend RogersDude69 who snapped it while on the job. The BlackBerry Curve 3G is one of the least interesting BlackBerrys in RIM’s current product line and even Rogers themselves describe the device as “a basic BlackBerry”. The device is aimed at students and it’s pretty clear that it will have a low price tag. If this device is free, I can definitely see a lot of people getting one. The pic shows that the BlackBerry Curve 3G will be coming to Rogers in Q3 2010 and features the following:

  • First 3G Curve
  • Exclusive color
  • Build-in WiFi and GPS
  • 2.0 MP camera

We’ll have more details for you in the coming weeks about this device so stay tuned.

BBC Confirms Native BlackBerry Apps Coming Later This Year

Comment

ways to consume bbc content

It seems like forever that users have been waiting for BBC content to be made available for their BlackBerry. Not too long ago, BBC announced an iPlayer app for BlackBerry that turned out to be a weblink to their online content, not a native app. Today, the BBC announced that they are continuing with the development of native smartphone apps that should be available “later in the year.” The first app to launch won’t be anything too spectacular and will probably just be their news app which is already available for the iPhone. It would be great to see the BBC launch a full BBC experience with TV programming, radio and written news content. Maybe that’s a pipe dream.

Use QR Codes to Download Apps in the BlackBerryCool Store

blackberry qr codes

QR codes are a great way to download apps. One of the best implementations is downloading from OTA links from your browser without having to manually type it in on your BlackBerry. We wrote about this a while ago and it involves getting a QR code generator for your browser, and scanning the QR code from your device. Amazing isn’t it?

Mobihand has implemented QR codes in the store to easily follow the link to the mobile version of the site where you can download without having to wait for the download link to arrive by email.

Enjoy them in the store! If you’re having issues, make sure to read our full Guide to BlackBerry Barcode reading apps to find an appropriate barcode reader for your device.
