These days almost everybody has a mobile phone but there are still those people who insist on borrowing your BlackBerry for whatever reason. A BlackBerry is a very personal tool and lending it to someone is a huge inconvenience. In order to politely refuse giving them your BlackBerry, you can always tell them “sorry, but I’m out of battery.” With the free OutofBattery app, you can display an empty battery icon to prove it as well. Combine this app with a fake “CallMe” app and you’re duping people left, right and center.
Asteroid Blast for BlackBerry is a space survival shooter by hayes.mobi. The game is a clone of Atari’s groundbreaking Asteroids game released in 1979.
The object of the game is to evade and destroy asteroids as well as battle hostile flying saucers. You small triangular ship can propel itself in any direction as well as hyperspace to a random spot on the screen if you should find yourself in a tight spot. After clearing all of the asteroids and flying saucers, a new set of asteroids will appear for you to destroy. Shooting a big asteroid will break it up into smaller pieces, so try not to break up too many big asteroids because it’s difficult to dodge 20 tiny on-screen asteroids. Antennagate has been a public relations nightmare for Apple and in an attempt to deflect the pressure, Steve Jobs claimed the Bold 9700 has antenna issues as well. Xtreme Labs let us know that that they have made an app that might prove or disprove the claim. The Antenna Meter application auto-samples your BlackBerry’s antenna signal strength once every second. The app lets you experiment with different ‘death grips’ and submit your results if you noticed an increase or decrease in antenna reception.
Features include:
Numerical representation of signal strength in dBm
Visual representation of signal strength showing signal bars
The setup process for a BlackBerry is generally boring slow. On the other hand, the setup process for a BlackBerry running 6 looks really fun and smooth. The intro video is very impressive and walks you through the basic features of BlackBerry 6. The video starts off by showing you how to move the menu and use the basic touchscreen features. No longer do you have to relearn how to type an ‘@’ symbol, and instead the video shows you some fun functionality. Thanks RIM!
