A while back we were sent a BlackBerry 6 Powerpoint Presentation to brief developers on upcoming APIs and features of BlackBerry 6 that are of specific interest to developers. Most of what is in the package is common knowledge by now and we’ve written about its contents in several other posts. If you’re wondering where our knowledge of BlackBerry 6 came back when we were writing these posts, much of it came from this developer briefing.     What a minute. Why only OpenGL ES 1.1; the competition is already flirting with 2.0??
    Inertial scrolling & Scrollbar, Tabs = Thank you RIM.
    Animated bitmap field; nice. AutoText improvements and Text Input API's … bliss.
    Natively Optimized new Animation API … finally!
    BlackBerry Maps improvement with in-app use; curious to see how powerful this gets and how much use.
    What on earth is “integratio” !?!
    Payment transactions in Apps via their service … interesting.
    Device Compatibility API … this is what we've all been waiting for and I'll bet that support for HTML5 will play a part; but this will be 1 of the key limitations for specific existing device support I'm sure; but we'll know tomorrow.

    Very very interesting that is shows an 8520/30 on the location services slide. I really doubt rim would do a mock up image of that phone with OS6 running if it wasn't coming to it.

    I wish they would just come out and tell us if 9700 will get 6.0. grrrrrr, I really want all of this without having to buy a new phone!

    Cool stuff, never seen any of this before… Plenty of interesting things, most of which we will probably get more details on tomorrow.

    However the stat that shows 1 in 5 BlackBerry users, don't do email is a bit suspicious…

    i work at a healthcare company and the amount of people, specifically nurses and doctors that have blackberrys is in the high percentage, yet when i go through their phones a few of them dont have email setup at all, or opted not to pay for data service. for those 20% of people that have a blackberry, its just for show.
