It's entirely possible for AT&T to carry two newer blackberry devices, especially considering the different styles of the phones. And like the 9700, why can't the 9780 be release on AT&T as well as T-Mobile?

Interesting, you state that AT&T is rumored to be receiving the BlackBerry 9780 probably around October... AT&T just launched the Torch! AND, T-Mobile recently released a BARELY redesigned Curve. I understand the competition between carriers can be brutal but we normally do not see a single carrier launching two huge device releases in such a short amount of time.
Let us also not forget that the earlier video of the 9780 clearly displays the T-Mobile brand as the unit is powered up AND the standard T-Mobile "Welcome" greeting.
Reps at T-Mo have been either holding the release info in tight reins, or they really don't know anything. However, consider this, T-Mo has made excellent sales of the newer bold 97xx model. I believe T-Mo has made their selection of the newer BlackBerry models and sticking with the more "business" savvy Bold series rather than going with the "entertainment" focused (and gimmicky) Torch.
Let's face the facts here, AT&T has a track record of featuring the more "toy-like" entertainment and gimmicky devices like the eye (candy) phone...
