The IM+ Talk app has been updated to version 4.2 with a completely revamped user interface and a new theme, as well as a new Conversations View feature. The app also now has new message indicators included in 4.2. For those who haven’t heard of IM+ Talk, the app enables voice and text communication over Skype and is the closest thing to a Skype app for BlackBerry for non-Verizon users. The app allows for free VOIP calls in WiFi zones and works worldwide on any 3G/GSM/CDMA network
Check out IM+ Talk in the BlackBerryCool store.
Along with this update, SHAPE Services also let us know that they have made their popular IM+ app available in a web version. To access this new web service, head over to http://plus.im and check it out.

UDPATE: Facebook v1.8.0.49 is officially available for download. The official launch is probably the reason the beta zone has been fickle about the download file.
Facebook for BlackBerry is not exactly the best application but it’s definitely one of the most highly used. The latest version, Facebook 1.8 beta, has a few performance improvements but nothing major. While it was nice of RIM to put the files in the Beta Zone, they pulled them shortly after. If you’re looking for the latest version, you can instead grab Facebook 1.8.031 (pictured above) which we wrote about a little while ago.

Millennial Media, an independent mobile ad network that reaches 82% of the US mobile audience, has released their monthly Mobile Mix report tomorrow. The report contains details on the different leading mobile devices, operating systems, developer categories and more. There are some interesting BlackBerry related figures such as the fact that the current report shows BlackBerry apps represented 11% of the US Developer Platform Usage Mix. This was an increase of 9%, and represents the increased importance app developers are placing on the BlackBerry platform.
Other relevant key points include:
- The Android OS continued its huge growth on the Millennial network, and grew another 47% month-over-month. Since January, Android has grown 690%. Android also officially became the number two OS on the Millennial network (surpassing RIM)
- Apple ad requests increased 24% month-over-month and are up 15% since January.
- iPad ad requests grew 327% month-over-month.
- Shopping and retail apps entered into the top 10 Mobile App Channels, perhaps reflecting a potential back-to-school trend.
- Smartphones and connected devices increased their impression share 7%, and now represent 68% of the total impression share. This is an example of the continued demand consumers have for a rich media experience they cannot get on a feature phone.

The BlackBerry Bold 9650 is available in US Cellular stores today. The Bold 9650, which we all know as the Tour2, supports EV-DO Rev A in North America, as well as UMTS/HSPA (2100Mhz) and quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM networks abroad. This makes the Bold 9650 a great purchase for those who travel a lot. Also, we know the Bold 9650 will be getting BlackBerry 6, so if you’re looking for a solid trackpad device that will get the latest OS, this is a good device to consider.
