Price Comparison and Barcode-Scanning App Sccope Now Available

Comments

sccope app

Sccope is a new price comparison and barcode-scanning app that’s available in App World. The app lets consumers compare prices at some of the larger retailers including Best Buy, Walmart and Amazon. The app works by getting the user to enter the name of a product in the search field, browse through the shopping categories or take a photo of the barcode of the product in hand to check the price against Sccope’s 10 million different price points. With a set of participating retailers, you can then navigate to the shopping pages to purchase the product. Users can also make a wish list, track prices and inventory through alerts and receive special offers.

Check out Sccope in App World, priced at $2.99.

RIM Sponsors BBM Lounge Party in LA with Lots of Tiger Hat Pics

Comments

You never want to encounter a tiger in the dark after midnight – they’re almost always drunk.

The event organizers for “The BBM Lounge” party in LA sponsored by BlackBerry (RIM) sent us some photos from the event. The party was organized by nightlife company Xomad and most of the pics are of people with a tiger hat on. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good party, but there’s something a little contrived about a zany tiger hat going around to help people get loose.

Hit the jump for some really funny party pics.

rogers blackberry curve 3g boxes

The Rogers BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 has arrived in Rogers retail outlets and the box has the same modern look as the BlackBerry Torch. RIM has done a great job of updating their device packaging so it isn’t stuffed with manuals, CDs and giant chargers that take up space. The new BlackBerry packaging is about half the size and doesn’t come with a case like they used to. It’s a little lame to not get a case but it makes a lot of sense not to include it anymore. By not giving the user a free case, RIM has really opened up the third party case market.

The BlackBerry Curve 3G from Rogers comes with OS 5.0.0.832 with no App World preload. We have been hearing about how RIM scored an App World preload deal for some time but perhaps it will only come with App World 2.0. A couple more pics after the jump.
