Hearts is a really fun card game that involves four players and is also known as Black Lady, Chase the Lady, Crubs, and Black Maria. Magmic makes a great Hearts game for BlackBerry that is entirely free and has been recently updated with a fresh UI and slick new graphics. The game is pretty simple, just avoid cards with hearts as well as the Queen of Spades. The player with the fewest points wins.
RIM’s ad campaigns are very personal these days. The above BlackBerry Torch and OS 6 promo videos are very much like the BBM commercials, in that they show everyday people using the device in an everyday way. It’s true that a BlackBerry is a very personal device, and smartphones in general are all promoting the fact that these devices are built around your lifestyle. Check out the above video to see some of the useful OS 6 features.
The BlackBerry Developer Zone has been updated with some minor but helpful improvements. The Developer Zone now features a convenient “single sign-on” to the Issue Tracker, Developer Support Forums, file downloads and more. There is also a customized landing page based on your profile preferences. This is just a little tweak that means your landing page begins with a particular tab (theme development, web development, java development or general) open for your convenience. The update isn’t anything too ground breaking but it looks like the Developer Zone website is getting a little easier to navigate and use.
MBLware has announced a cool streaming media app for BlackBerry called Hypoxia. The app isn’t yet released but the team has sent along some preview videos to check out in the meantime. Hypoxia allows you to stream media to and from devices on your home network. All you have to do is browse the networked media servers (eg TVersity or Windows Media Player) through Hypoxia, and select what you want to watch or listen to.
We’ve been hearing about the BlackBerry Curve 3G for some time now and even Rogers has made the device available for sale before RIM sent out its press release about the device. Today, RIM made the device announcement and we should expect more carriers coming out with announcements shortly. According to RIM, this device will be getting BlackBerry 6 “in the coming months” and hopefully the OS upgrades will finish their rollout before 2011. RIM has also said that this device “will be available from various carriers and distribution partners around the world beginning in August.”
