PicDial Uses Facebook and MySpace Profile Pictures for Caller ID

Comment

picdial

PicDial is a picture caller ID app that uses social networks to give a little more context to calls. The app is geared more towards users that don’t have social media applications on their device, so BlackBerry users probably aren’t the ideal market for this app. With a BlackBerry, you can easily set your contacts’ Facebook profile pictures to your caller ID, making this app not all that useful for users. On the other hand, there are a couple features such as the ability to backup your contacts, and select which of the Facebook/MySpace pics you want your contact to use is helpful.

More information about PicDial available on their site.

Qwell Do Not Disturb Service for BlackBerry with Free Trial

Comments

Qwell is a Do Not Disturb service for BlackBerry that lets you silence calls while not missing the important ones. The service is initiated by pressing a single button, and you don’t need to create “Allow and Don’t Allow” lists that limit your connectivity to numbers that are predetermined.

When Qwell is enabled, Callers will hear that you are not taking calls at this time, unless it is an urgent matter. If the call is urgent, Qwell gives the caller the option to connect the call so you do not miss it! If the call is not urgent, they can leave a voicemail or simply hang-up without your phone ringing so you remain undisturbed. A Qwell call log keeps track of all call activity while you’re in “Qwell Mode” so that you can see Missed Calls and Voicemail at a glance.

Microsoft Celebrates Windows Phone 7 with Tacky Parade and Funeral for Competition

microsoft funeral for competition

Apparently Microsoft is set to spend $500 million in marketing to promote the upcoming Windows Phone 7, but if this parade is any indication of how they’re going to spend it, you have to wonder where the money is going. The above picture is a great example of how little they spent on this event. It looks like everyone was asked to put together their own costume, which meant most people just grabbed a couple of kooky wigs or something around the house. They also couldn’t take the time to even make a decent banner, opting for some gravestone clipart, ugly font, tacky colors, and to top it all off, it’s duct taped to the U-Haul rental.

Who organized this event? An elementary school?
