Leroy’s Sportsbook Releases Gambling App for BlackBerry

Comment

gambling problem

Leroy’s Sportsbook, owned by American Wagering, has launched a BlackBerry app that lets you gamble from your BlackBerry, as long as your GPS says you are located in Nevada and you have registered in person at an American Wagering location to avoid underage gambling or identity theft.

After signing up, players will receive a download link via text message. The app then lets players bet on sporting events with options for straight and parlay bets as well as in-game wagering.

To download the app, the site gives the following links but they seem to be broken. It could be that you need to be in Nevada to even download app.

Download OTA for the BlackBerry Storm or Torch (or newer) click here (OS 4.7 and higher)
Download OTA for all other Blackberrys click here (OS 4.6 or lower)

BlackBerry Clamshell 9670 to be Named BlackBerry Style

Comments

blackberry style

It looks like the BlackBerry Clamshell 9670 might be getting branded the BlackBerry Style. Putting the 9670 in the Pearl or Pearl Flip series may have made sense but it looks like RIM is giving the device a new product line of its own. Does that mean we’ll see several iterations of this device? Maybe. It could also just be a one off depending on its success. The BlackBerry Style isn’t the best name and RIM could have chosen any of the following:

BlackBerry Sorta-Stylish
BlackBerry Clam Chowder
BlackBerry Castanet

No? Yes?

Starbucks Card Mobile BlackBerry App with Mobile Payment Solution

starbucks card mobile

Starbucks has released a Starbucks Card Mobile app for BlackBerry and it looks really cool. The app gives you the ability to track all your Starbucks account info and display your barcode. Once you register your card you can track the Stars you earn toward free beverages through My Starbucks Rewards. The coolest feature of this app, which hasn’t been fully rolled out yet, includes the ability to use their Mobile Pay system and pay for drinks with the app. Mobile Pay is available at select stores in Seattle and Silicon Valley, and at all Target Starbucks stores in the United States.

Download the app by texting GO to 70845.

BlackBerry Torch Launching on Virgin Canada on…Yep, September 24th

Who would have thought?! With Bell, Telus and Rogers launching the Torch on September 24th, it’s a shocker to see Virgin launching on the 24th too. It would be great to see Virgin slip the Torch launch in just a little earlier than everyone else and launch with a big sign that says “first to bring the Torch to Canada”. Richard Branson has the guts to do it.

When we last wrote about Xobni back in July, they were working on a beta with LinkedIn integration. Now that they’re done running betas, the app is available to all via App World. We’ve been talking about Xobni for some time now on BBCool and it’s interesting to see that only now are they available on App World. This app has been in the oven for a long time and it’s a must-have for anyone with a lot of contacts on their BlackBerry. Features include:

  • Automatically created profiles for every person with whom you’ve ever communicated.

  • Lightning fast search by name or company name exposes each person’s profile. Complete with photos, contact info, recent emails, calls, texts, info from LinkedIn/Facebook and more.

blackberry torch 9800

Looks like September 24th is the magical day for the Canadian Torch launch. Telus has announced that it will make the Torch available on the 24th along with the other major Canadian carriers such as Bell and Rogers. Will all three major Canadian carriers launching on this day, there needs to be some sort of national celebration. Another public holiday perhaps?
