We’re here at the BlackBerry Developer Conference and there are a few announcements that are really interesting from both a developer and end-user perspective. We’re not positive about everything that will be announced, and hopefully, RIM will tack on a big announcement like the BlackPad.
If you’re here at DEVCON, make sure to download the Vayyoo Conference App or the official one by Pyxis Mobile..

This week was a little slow on the site because we’re preparing for the BlackBerry Developer Conference and we’re traveling hitting up the Verizon Developer Conference as well. We’ll have a lot of content this upcoming week from the conference so stay tuned to read until your eyes hurt. Still, there are some cool posts to check out so be sure to hit up the roundup after the jump and see what you may have missed.

The latest official BlackBerry blog to launch is the BlackBerry Business Blog and its goal is to “deliver insights from RIM subject matter experts about product information, best practices, and tips and tricks for business use of BlackBerry.” It’s an interesting strategy to break up RIM’s official blog into a series of focused blogs but it’s not clear what the value is. Breaking up the blogs would make sense if you have so much content that you’re overwhelming a single domain but Inside BlackBerry sometimes doesn’t post for a few days at a time. Gawker blogs will do around 50 posts per day and readers have no trouble with this. Either way, if you’re looking for insight from RIM about BlackBerry for business, there might be some value there.

The BlackBerry Storm 9570 is a memory refresh to the Storm series and it looks just like the Storm2. With the launch of BlackBerry 6, there are a host of devices that need memory refreshes in order to be BlackBerry 6 compatible. It would be cool if these devices had a little more to offer than just more memory, even though BlackBerry 6 is a nice upgrade. There doesn’t even seem to be a better camera on the 9570.

Dropbox has been in beta for some time and the app is now available to download for the public. Dropbox is a valuable service for anyone who wants to share files and the mobile client lets you do it all on the go. What’s also cool about Dropbox is their publicly available API which allows developers to create applications around the service. There are over 100 third party mobile applications now in market that use the company’s mobile APIs to make mobile document editing, image capture, note taking and other features available to Dropbox users.
Download the Dropbox app at dropbox.com/blackberry.

We’ve partnered with the guys at Vayyoo for the latest release of their Super App that showcases the power of the platform to cover a conference. This new version features the ability to login to accounts that dynamically update the client. To showoff this and other powerful features of Vayyoo, a DEVCON account has been created that provides conference interactivity and information.
Cool features in Vayyoo’s DEVCON Edition include:
- Submit your own blog posts to BlackBerryCool (more info to come)
- App hotlinks that open the App World listing for apps participating in DEVCON
- Links to conference information (agenda, Facebook, and #DEVCON10 on Twitter)
- Keynote information and polling
- Links to event sponsors
- Ability to call taxis and limousines from within the app
Try it out now by downloading Vayyoo from App World and login with the following credentials:
