BlackBerry PlayBook vs Apple iPad Internet Speed Tests and Comparisons

Comments

RIM’s corporate culture seems to be changing significantly as they move towards a more consumer focused company. Recently, RIM released a BlackBerry PlayBook versus Apple iPad speed test video which is risky considering both companies have such large legal teams. Speed tests are also difficult because there are so many variables that can affect the test. Overall, it looks like RIM did an excellent job putting the test under clean conditions and it’s obvious the PlayBook kicks the iPad’s butt into oblivion when it comes to rendering websites fast and fully.

These videos are awesome and I’d love to see the PlayBook against the Galaxy Tab next.

Riz’s iPhone vs BlackBerry App Mock Ad and Real Ad All in One

Comments

You can’t really say Riz has sold out because he’s always sort of been a walking billboard for BlackBerry. His track “PING!!! Me Baby” is pretty cool and not necessarily an ad for BlackBerry but more of a fan vid. The latest video on his YouTube channel is a mock ad using the Mac vs PC style, but then jumps into a real ad promoting the BlackBerry Style. Anyways, the video is somewhere between cringing and laughing. Enjoy!

Why Did RIM Pull Viral Messenger App Kik from App World?

Comments

kik

Kik is an instant messaging service much like BlackBerry Messenger, except it’s cross-platform. Downloads for the app have been pretty explosive, with the company reporting having exceeded 2M users due to viral growth. Recently, Kik downloads were suspended and there’s a lot of speculation going around as to why this may have happened.

On Friday, RIM told Kik that no new downloads could be made of the app, citing concerns that it “could not elaborate on at the time.” The app continues to sell on Apple and Android, so why has RIM shut this one down?
