PR4Apps Running “Most Underrated Mobile App Award” Contest

There are a lot of great apps out there but often these apps go undiscovered because the developers are more interested in the code and not the marketing. PR4Apps is a public relations division of Mobility PR that focuses exclusively on apps. The PR firm is looking for potential clients and are running a “Most Underrated Mobile App Award” with a prize of $2000 in PR services. It’s not obvious how far $2000 will get you, or whether it would result in more downloads, but it doesn’t cost anything to enter so you may as well.

Dallas Police Department Release App for Reporting Suspicious Activity

The Dallas Police Department have launched an app called iWatch Dallas that gives citizens the ability to anonymously report “suspicious behaviors and activities”. The app is free and is geared toward public safety and community policing initiatives. Tips that are sent in through the app are investigated and police are deployed as needed. Apparently, iWatch Dallas has already led to arrests and further investigations.

RIM Introduces the BlackBerry World Conference in Orlando

As it was previously rumored, the WES conference in Orlando has been renamed and is now called the BlackBerry World Conference. The name goes along with “App World” and the general global strategy that RIM has for the BlackBerry brand. The conference will feature keynotes from leading mobile thinkers, over 100 breakout sessions, Hands-on Labs, BlackBerry training, and opportunities for certification.
