Wave is an interesting theme from Elecite that gives your BlackBerry a radial UI design. The theme puts your apps in an easy to navigate menu, allowing you to touch a category and find apps quickly. Wave also comes with customizable slots as well as a weather slot. Of course, with BlackBerry 6, you can just start typing the name of the app and it appears instantly, but this theme is for someone looking for an entirely new UI.

Ryan Stewart is a developer evangelist for Adobe and he recently put together a screencast for the beginning steps to creating BlackBerry PlayBook apps. The video runs you through setting up Flash Builder Burrito and the PlayBook simulator, so if you’re more of a visual learner, this video should really help. RIM ran us through these steps during the developer webcasts, but in case you’re just tuning in now, you may appreciate this video.
We have recently seen the video demonstration of the PlayBook at TabLifeTO and Rogers RedBoard put up extended video of the demo including the interview with David Neale and Marc Saltzman. There are a few tibits of information that are interesting in the information including the fact that the PlayBook will have FIPS 140 security as well as the fact that the front and rear camera have different resolutions. The front camera is 3MP and the back is 5MP. Neale also suggested that the PlayBook will come in many different form factors and RIM isn’t going to stick with a 7″ tablet forever. We can expect a QNX tablet in various sizes and potentially with a QWERTY keyboard.
Our buddy RogersDude69 sent over something funny. Apparently BlackBerry reps are going around Rogers retail stores and handing out their latest marketing initiative called “spark possibilities”. What do you think of when you hear the word “spark”? Frank’s Hot Sauce and a chili pen of course. Let’s file this one under WTF Marketing and just forget about it. Agreed?
