PocketDay Professional is a customizable and integrated Today Screen for your BlackBerry. The app helps you keep track of Missed Calls, Unread Email, Calendar, Tasks, Weather, News, Stocks, Google Search, Twitter, World Times and more. The app also works with PocketDay plugins such as Sports which lets you keep track of your favorite professional sports, and Lists which is a customizable list application.

Back on the 13th of January, RIM held an event in Boston for press and analysts called Business On BlackBerry. RIM had the following experts on hand:
BlackBerry in the Enterprise in 2011 – Alec Taylor, Vice President, Product Marketing
BlackBerry Enterprise Portfolio in 2011 –Peter Devenyi, Vice President, BlackBerry Enterprise Software
PlayBook for Business – Ryan Bidan, Senior Product Manager for PlayBook
Some interesting news came out of the event including the fact that RIM is considering a cloud-based BES solution for mail clients as well as supporting multiple smartphone platforms.

The BlackBerry World 2011 conference is being help from May 3rd to the 5th in Orlando, Florida. Attendees can register now until February 25th at the early bird rate and save $400 off the full conference pass ($2,199 USD). Also as a new offer this year, attendees that can’t make it for all three days can register for a one-day pass ($599 USD) for Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

The winners of the 2010 BlackBerry Partners Fund Super Apps Developer Challenge will soon be reaping the rewards of winning the challenge and working with App-Promo, a mobile PR agency, to promote their products across traditional and digital media. The 4 winners, 8 finalists and 16 semi-finalists from their respective regions will be featured in a marketing program that includes public relations, social media, mobile advertising, search engine marketing and in-store promotion.
Considering most of the apps that won the challenge are already well-known, it will be interesting to see if the PR company can actually help downloads/sales significantly. Sure, getting featured in App World will help, but that’s hardly any work on the part of App-Promo. In the end, a PR company can only do so much and apps are more likely to explode in popularity by viral means rather than traditional media advertising.

Pretty much as long as BlackBerryCool has been around, we’ve been hearing about the possibility of Microsoft acquiring RIM. In a recent interview, Steve Ballmer addressed the potential for an acquisition, saying the decision to build versus buy is a complicated subject. Would RIM even consider a buyout? With all their latest acquisitions and foray into tablets and new markets, RIM is surely in it for the long haul and focused on building a company that would could be too big to acquire.
