Now Seems Like a Great Time to Buy RIMM Stock

RIMM

RIMM stock took a pretty incredible nose dive yesterday after the quarterly conference call. Investors have been really bearish on the stock for a few reasons including:

1) Initial reviews of the PlayBook
2) Worldwide shipments are slowing
3) Lack of ability to create hyped launches
4) Rumored carrier support withdrawal

The stock is at an incredible low compared to what is was at just a week ago, and if you were to buy now you’d be getting it at a fire sale price. Do you trust the long term future of RIM? We do. And not just because it’s BlackBerryCool, but because we have faith that recent acquisitions position the company competitively against other smartphone manufacturers. There are a lot of new markets RIM can enter, the issue is just whether they can get there fast enough.

I was thinking this just after hearing about the conference call. Following the announcements that RIM will be making next week (which are not exactly a secret) by this time next week the stock will be much higher then it is now.

With as completely and terribly unfinished the Playbook is and RIM thinking that 6.1 is a ‘major’ change (enough to call it 7.0), I’m starting to think like current stock owners… RIM has started its downhill turn. They can’t respond fast enough against such a large and capable set of competitors. Think Palm.
