Poynt Introduces Pairing for BlackBerry Playbook
Poynt allows users to pair their BlackBerry smartphone to their BlackBerry Playbook Tablet to initiate calls to businesses, add contacts to the address book and more
CALGARY, ALBERTA–(Marketwire – May 4, 2011) – Poynt Corporation (“Poynt Corp.” or the “Company”) (TSX VENTURE:PYN), a leading provider of mobile local search services, today announced they have released an update to their mobile application Poynt (or the “App”) for BlackBerry® Smartphones™.
The new version of Poynt for BlackBerry smartphones allows users to pair their BlackBerry smartphone with their BlackBerry® PlayBook™ to combine the convenience of viewing listings on the PlayBook tablet’s larger display while using the BlackBerry® smartphone to interact with the search results. Users can call businesses, add addresses to the address book or add events to the calendar on their smartphone. Mapping and directions can also be pushed to the smartphone.
Poynt for BlackBerry PlayBook delivers the same search categories users have come to expect from Poynt. Users can search for businesses, people, movies, events, restaurants, gas prices and weather information in their local area. Once users have located their desired listing, they can click-to-map, get directions, view movie showtimes and trailers, buy tickets, view restaurant reviews and book dining reservations all without leaving the App.
To enable the connectivity, users pair their BlackBerry smartphone with their PlayBook by simply selecting the ‘Pair with PlayBook’ tab in Poynt on their PlayBook and entering their BlackBerry smartphone PIN. They will then be given a security code to enter under a ‘Pair with PlayBook’ menu item on their BlackBerry smartphone. Once the devices have been paired they will remain paired until the user opts to un-pair them. After the devices have been paired users can search Poynt using the enhanced PlayBook interface to call businesses and add listings to their existing contacts.
“The BlackBerry® platform continues to innovate with this latest device launch,” said Andrew Osis, CEO, Poynt Corp. “By pairing their BlackBerry smartphone with their PlayBook, users can take advantage of the larger format of the PlayBook while still taking advantage of all the features Poynt has to offer on their existing BlackBerry smartphone.”
The newest release also includes the ability to share listings with friends via Facebook, in addition to the previously released ability to share listings via Twitter and email.
The latest versions of Poynt for BlackBerry smartphones and Poynt for BlackBerry Playbook are now available on BlackBerry® AppWorld™ (www.blackberry.com/appworld) or OTA via m.poynt.com.

Personally, I think Poynt helps stalkers more than it does any good.
It will show you someone’s Name, address, age, phone number, and give
directions to their house (with a satellite photo of your home) for
free. They offer no ability to “opt-out” of being visible on their
searches. They also don’t respect if you have your phone number
UNLISTED. They post unlisted phone numbers anyway.

This app is a stalkers DREAM.
