Caspan! Well said. I need to banter with you more often as you open my mind beyond the average. What do you do professionally?

I sincerely miss PIM, LED & other notifications that are native to BlackBerry - and quick frankly the simple bill with NO damn surprises.

I'm hoping that future BlackBerry SDK's along with QNX bring even more powerful, efficient (battery life), and yet more interactive applications that give performance and not lag ... and soon.

@Hardened:twitter I do not know if I completely agree with you. It sounds like you are taking your experience with RIM as why everyone else has issues with RIM and it is the problem with the consumer market. There are a million voices all screaming for something different. So who do you listen to? The majority, well then you piss off the minority. Do you listen to the minority, well then you lose the majority. When it comes down to it RIM is in the business of making money! No really they are... they listen to the majority because that is what makes money, but they piss a lot of people that are in the minority by doing that. So RIM has listened and they created cheep one off phones to make these people in the minority happy with stuff like the Pearl. Then guess what happens people like BGR get one of these device and rip RIM a new one thinking these are flag ship type devices and are built with the same quality as the Bold or Torch and wine and complain why they are so plastic and cheep. Well this is what the people asked for! It drives me nuts to see how dumb people are! I mean that with all the nicest backing but the consumer market has no idea what they want. They want someone to tell them what they want and as long as every one agrees that something like Copy/Cut & Paste is just not that needed people feel okay with not having it for a year. As long as you are the not the only one that does not have it then you feel okay not having it. Why would you not need that feature, how did someone convince you that you didn't need it? I could give you a phone that did everything you ever wanted it to do and what I would get back from 10 people is "This rocks" the other 90% will complain that it does not look like an iPhone or have a button like an Android device. But who cares it does everything, I don't care it's not like "X". The consumer market will never be happy, never!
RIM has the ability to work with corporations that are predictable and all have the same basic function, "get me my information and now" so you can always make 90% - 95% of all people happy in business. The same formula does not hold true for the consumer market Consumers are all over the place and unless they fit in one of the molds that RIM created for the consumer they are targeting the user does not feel loved or that they have a place so they go to someone like Apple that make the phone as simple and as appealing to everyone that almost everyone fits in their big cookie cutter. I would like to add though because of that some features you really want are lost but having a place to call home is better then having 100% of the features you want!

I agree with you BlackBerry Cool. What I think people are lacking is the fact that people don't have to be in the streets screaming their products name to make it good. Sometimes a product lives in a self sustaining Eco system, almost all my friends rock a BlackBerry and those that don't keep asking me "What one should I get because my contract is up for renewal soon and my (insert device of choice) sucks?" I am sure people love their iPhone and same with Android but RIM has a way of standing above them just by being them.

What most people do not realize is that RIM is not "Loosing market share" per-say they are only leveling out. Remember RIM took a huge bit out of the consumer market a long time back and took a huge spike in their share in the consumer market, now they are starting to compete with Apple and Android and they are starting to have to share the market, so if RIM had 80% of the market and along come competition because lets be honest the iPhone and Android devices are great devices but not my preference because of many reasons. So because of this the shares have to be take from someone, someone has to go up someone has to go down. I believe it will eventually it will plateau when everyone has found their spot and are settled in.

One thing people fail to mention or if they do then mention it it is normally in some kind of hatred, RIM has consistently grown in the business sector where others are failing. Yes I know fan boys will quote one off situations where company A has dropped BlackBerry for iPhones etc... I wonder where they are today? I never hear the story at the end of the tunnel... I wonder why we do not hear success stories of company A that has been using iPhones or Android devices with 100% success like we do with BES and BlackBerry devices. They do exist but they are far and few in between is why.

Let me tell you something we have a Exchange 2007 environment and we installed BES 5.0 in under 2 hours! That speaks words for RIM, you tell me these iPhone environments that can be setup and 100% stable and can be trusted as solid and mature in 2 hours. Sure maybe a single security policy to wipe a device can be setup but with BES we just opened a door to 10,000 possibilities to do with our devices with iPhones or Android device you lust closed a door to get a select few options to control your devices. Why would you want to restrict yourself to basic simple stuff? Not me I use a BlackBerry because it can live in both worlds Business and Personal and I love them for that, no carrying 2 phones one for work one for personal.

Also just so people know I blog about RIM and ideas for cool things. RIM have a look http://caspan.com and I love to post. When you see my rating above almost 95% of all of those are on BlackBerry blogs!

I agree with you BlackBerry Cool. What I think people are lacking is the fact that people don’t have to be in the streets screaming their products name to make it good. Sometimes a product lives in a self sustaining Eco system, almost all my friends rock a BlackBerry and those that don’t keep asking me “What one should I get because my contract is up for renewal soon and my (insert device of choice) sucks?” I am sure people love their iPhone and same with Android but RIM has a way of standing above them just by being them.

What most people do not realize is that RIM is not “Loosing market share” per-say they are only leveling out.

Yes I know fan boys will quote one off situations where company A has dropped BlackBerry for iPhones etc… I wonder where they are today? I never hear the story at the end of the tunnel… I wonder why we do not hear success stories of company A that has been using iPhones or Android devices with 100% success like we do with BES and BlackBerry devices. They do exist but they are far and few in between is why.
